Changing thumbnail sizes

Is it possible to chage the thumbnail sizes in the smart content and content library panes? I'm using a 4k monitor and the product thumbnails are tiny.

  • No, though you can have a separate tip image (filename.tip.png for filename.duf) which can be larger (256 pixels square officially) and will show in a tool-tip when you hover the mouse over the file in a content pane.

I also do this for content which I'm going to use often where the thumbnail isn't very helpful. Certain vendors seem to like close-up, non-textured renders of their clothes for thumbnails. It's a struggle to figure out what a dress called something like "Lilly Dress" looks like when all I see is a clay render of the neckline. So I create the *.tip.png files so I can see what I'm really looking at.

  • It's 2025 and this still isn't an option in DAZ Studio!? We're only getting older and pixels are getting smaller, we need to be able to increase that thumbnail to know what the heck we're looking at!

  • The thumbnails can be almost any size, and you can create any size you want, but other than standard will look messy. The problem is that the only standard size is 91px square and 256px for.tip.png images. On my freebies I do .tip.png images at 256px x 512px or 512px square as appropriate, and with current 4k screens, even those are a bit small. Regards, Richard.
