.tif files crashing iray

so a while ago my daz kept crashing and I found out it was a normalmap.tif file that was causing it the only problem was more then 1 product was using it and I didnt want to go, look through, and replace all of them so I waited for the problem to be fixed and it was but nividia had another update and its causing crashing again so I was wondering how can I just replace these pesky .tif files and make it so they load into the scene properly.

Just ask for a refund for the products using the tif files. So may be they will fix them if enough people is returning them back. There's no reason to waste your time fixing assets you paid for, it's the PA who's supposed to fix them.

Or at least open a ticket asking that the product be updated, and if you wish stating that you will want a refund if that cannot be done in a reasonable timeframe.

irfanview can batch convert and searches subfolders. So it should be able to convert your whole library in one go.

I've not tried it yet, but seems to be a straight forward process. I've just been converting to png as I find them. Not all .tif files cause the problem so I never got around to converting them all.

After converting them you would need to use something like notepad++ to change the file names in the duf files to point to the new png.Using your example you would replace all instances of normalmap.tif to normalmap.png

This isn't difficult just time consuming because you'll need to do one at a time.

Unless of course someone can write a script to help speed things up a bit.

It, of course, would be more efficient to just have the PA do the conversion and update the relevant duf files then post an update for the affected product instead of every customer that has purchased the product.
