Free Script for DazStudio all versions

version 2 was posted, not a big change but it 'memorizes' your settings

version3 you can now load/save the positions/rotations/scalings of your sole-planes

Purpose

Quickly re-orient feet so that the shoe soles are horizontal

Use

For each foot of your figure.
Create a primitive plane, any size will do.
In the plane creation options, 'primary Axis' must be 'Y Positive'.
In Daz Studio's 'scene' tab, rename them 'lSole' and 'rSole'.
Parent each plane to its respective foot.
Orient the planes like their respective shoe soles.
( As if the shoe soles were sticky and you walked on a sheet of paper )

Note that there's also a button titled "Create Sole Planes"

Which will create and roughly position those planes

But you will need to readjust them for your specific shoes

Run the script

Select the appropriate timerange.
click the 'Go' button.

The feet will be bent/twisted just the right amount
to make the shoe soles ( the planes ) horizontal.

I tried this with high heels.  I think that it wold be better to align the planes with the shoes (or use planes that were pre-aligned with the shoes), rather than aligning them with the character.

well it takes only a few minutes to align them with the specific shoes in a scene, once it's done it saves a lot of time

shoes are so different from case to case that i prefered not trying to make presets

though something that would not be too hard would be to have a "Save Soles" button

so if you position the planes for specific shoes and a specific figure "manually" you could save that position/orientation in a .dsa file using that button

then another day you'd use "Load Soles" button, it would re-generate the soleplanes, parent and position them

i'll do that right now, and post it as version 3 when it's ready

    Ok..phew!  Figured it out...

I thought something went wrong with the download/update since I was overwriting the original.  Or maybe not..I don't know.  When I looked at the script dialog after opening it, it still said "V2".

But that's ok..it has the correct updates,

Anyway, thanks Jacques!  Very cool!  You always come up with the most useful stuff!

Your script handles parallelism with the floor well.  Thank you, it will save some time.  Have you considered expanding on this a bit?

well someday i'd like to have a script that helps automatically lay a hand on a surface inclusing posing the fingers,

but my next projects are ( if i remember well )  a top/dress for Aiko3, Kinect Facial Mocap ( PC old sensors only ), and physics

and dozens ( really ) of other projects on the backburner

Of course.  So many projects, so little time.
