Sci Fi Back Alley, kit bash-able, android approved

I saw they are making a sequel to blade runner and I got inspired, I hope it gives you some ideas for some new art.

First thing I thought of was Blade Runner smiley

This looks like a fun set. Very atmospheric; makes me want to explore what's around the corner in this "city". Any plans to create add-on elements? Different "districts" perhaps??

Beautiful set. I'm thankful it's kit-bash friendly. Great selling point, I can use this and that with other sets.

What languages are represented on the signs and/or what do they say?

    Thanks guys!

The signs are a mix most are gibberish the one over head sign is a real parking sign in kanji.  I would like to build out the world the props were so fun to make, the soda machine may be my favorite. But I am open to more if I survive the Dogpile in the commons for or not have doors that open. Which I coincide would be a plus but disagree it is a minus.

As always, your creations have such wonderful little details and character hidden in them.

The fact that it can be loaded with seperately will make it extremely re-useable.

Love the three props of vending, phone and oxygen.  I just want to put those in every scene I make,

It's GORGEOUS!!!  I just LOVE it!

Like  I said in the other thread, its obvious you put a lot of work into this and it shows.  And you are hardly the only other vendor out there who makes sets with doors that don't open.

People often have grievances or desires they lack the capacity to communicate decently.

  • already in my cart (accompanied by your Research Lab) and I am probably purchasing it in the next two days. If you`d like to expand the world, you can be sure to have a thankful customer in me. Stuff like that is what I am looking for.

I already put it on my wish list and I can make the doors open and close but what does Android Approved mean? Kit Bashable means from reading other's talk hear that pieces of this modeled set can be used in other sets with a lot of flexibility. Is that what kit-bashable means?

    Thanks.

I think "Android approved" was just a humorous reference to the usability of the set with cyborg/android characters and an indirect reference to its Blade Runner-esque appearance.

Indeed a Blade Runner nod, adapted to film from Philip K. Dick's book , Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

Kit bash able is one of those terms that may be industry centric. I does refer to combining sets to create an original unique look of your own.

Oh, I've had the Blade Runner DVD since 1999 and still haven't seen the movie. laugh

Ah, don't sweat the open doors thing. If that's the only complaint that anyone has, then you're doing good! Note, I'm not even going to buy the set, doesn't mean I don't admire the skill and detail. Just means that I don't need a sci-fi set! You can't meet every demand of every niche industry, if you could you'd be producing hyper-expensive one-offs for individual clients. I don't recall this much complaining about Unreality Downtown or School's Out (both of which I own, BTW) having solid doors.

I read the thread. What, you're wasting someone's valuable time by creating a product that isn't exactly what they need? Unreal... Here's my take: You've made 29 products that come close enough to meeting my needs to make them worth the price I paid. The other 229 products that don't meet my needs? I haven't bought them. Simple as that. But I won't complain that you make so much science-fiction stuff that I can't use! You make what gives you satisfaction, enough people appreciate it to purchase your products, that's what matters. And I'm certainly pleased with your products that I have bought! So just keep doing what you've been doing. It's fine.

Watch it, then come back and look at this set...you'll much better appreciate the style Ant Farm has captured in this near-future product.

For all the angst over "door-gate" in the other thread, this is clearly a product made with passion for fans of the genre.

Here is one I did using 3delight render engine. I did not redo the lights here but it's an easy thing to do.

See it already! There are several versions and with commentaries too. I have probably watched them countless times and never tire. What a wonderful place to escape to. It's AntMan, Moebius87, and Stonemason rolled into one.

This set was an instant wishlist because of the oxygen and I liked the vidphone. I have a coflek-gnorg vidphone from one of his sets and like that I can have variations in the same scene. Yours goes into the cart on Thursday. The door is not really a problem. Will greenscreen it if needed for a scene and put in what I want.

Here are two fast renders i did in Poser to test my PBR based shader setup (FireFly and SuperFly render engines). The 2nd one uses some elements from Coflek Gnorg.

I'm fluent in Gibberish after I've had a few.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! It looks much more real when there are several artists' work combined. The GoGo Booth and 3 wheel car go perfectly with AntFarm's Alley. A check cleared so I'm buying this today! Will render in Lux.

Love it! Like Barefoot said, the gogo booth fits in perfectly with the vibe of the set. I'm sure the dancer has a boa constrictor in the back somewhere...

Here is my little contribution. The base is an entirely different model, The Redzone by DZfire, with a lot of elements of the Back Alley to flesh it out. I really like the way those details pick up the lighting (not so much the skin-job up front, but that's my problem). This is 3Delight btw, even if the product itself is "optimized for Iray." Oh, I picked up the Cambot with the Back Alley, so it deserves to go in the scene.

So, Mr. The Antman, if you want to make more along these lines, you have my vote$. I love this world.
