Spanish Moss graphic novel

I thought I would start my own thread and post occasional updates here regarding my graphic novel, Spanish Moss. I expect it to be around 160 pages and hope to have it finished by late 2017 or early 2018. This will be my follow up project to The Locksmith -- a 5 issue series, which when completed, will be 220 pages in total -- Issue #3 will release in January 2017 (see links in my signature).

I am using a variety of illustration techniques for Spanish Moss, but the foundation for every panel begins with Daz3D.

Enjoy!
Terrance

These panels look great, Terrance. The tight shot on his eyes in particular.

I like the art style a lot but I don't go for that sort of story.

Thanks for having a look... I'll be posting new panels and pages fairly regularly!

    Cheers... Terrance

  • I like the stylized art.  It's a good technique for the dark tone of the story.

This is absolutely beautiful. What other tools are you using in addition to DAZ3D? Just curious what your work flow looks like. I can imagine there's quite a lot of work that goes into each panel!

  • Love the style and mood!

I render out using 3Delight (depending on the image, in multiple layers), then post in photoshop using Akvis, Filter Forge and a wacom tablet for additional hand-sketching/painting.

A page from Spanish Moss that deviates from the standard comic format.

  • Fantastic mood!  Love the art work.

I haven't posted about Spanish Moss in awhile as work on it has come to a temporary hault as I finish up THE LOCKSMITH ISSUE #3 -- currently kickstarting printing costs with a little over two weeks to go. The Locksmith does not utilize daz beyond sketching out layouts in some cases. So this post is a shameless promotion and call for everyone to check it out!!

In the meantime, here is another page from Spanish Moss which does utilize daz, photoshop and a wacom tablet...

Unfortunately, I've had to put Spanish Moss on the back burner to finish up other projects and now I've got a work-for-hire gig that is going to take me through August. So, it looks like I won't be finished with this graphic novel until 2018.

That's a great render @tgrace  Kudos on the camera angle and making the viewer feel like that car is coming right at them.  The characters' expressions are perfect too.

Sorry for the delay on your graphic novel but at least it is due to a work opp, which is always good, right?
