Alien-X for Genesis 3 Male

edited November 2016 in Product Suggestions

The Hands are all screwed up they don't bend right at the fingers. It's a shame nicely modeled.

  • It is likely you are having a conflict within DS from another character load. Can you do a clean install, and see if you're getting the same issue?

What version of Daz Studio are you using.

Is this occuring with any other figure morph?

  • An easy quick fix for this would be to do an adjust rigging to shape for the hands only. I just did a load test on my end, and everything works perfectly. Sorry you are having this problem.

So I'm out of luck on an update

Well, so far you're the only one getting this issue that I know of. It's not broken on my end, therefore there is nothing to fix

I would try restarting DS and loading only AlienX into your library to help rule out the problem

If you're still getting that issue, uninstall and reinstall DS and the G3 essentials to be sure there are no existing conflicts that may have been saved into your G3M preset

I have run into this kind of thing myself, and it was caused by conflicts from multiple libraries installed

Load a fresh copy of G3M, then go to the Parameters tab and select Currently Used...see if anything shows up, other than Mouth Realism HD and Navel.

Also, full version of Studio  Help > About

    No

Which version of 4.9? Help>About Daz Studio...

    How did you install?

I have the same hand bone issue too with DS 4.9.2.70.  In this image loaded two Genesis 3 Males.  Dialed in the AlienX morph on the lower figure.  The Bones don't elongate when the AlienX morph is dialed in. They stay the same length as the default G3M figure. With the AlienX dialed in, when the hand is posed in a Hand Grasp, the tips of the fingers just dangle, as shown in the posted sample above, since there are no bones present.

EDIT: The bones elongate properly with the AlienX morph applied in Daz Studio BETA 4.9.3.128

  • That is very odd. I will look into this. Thanks for your patience folks.

  • By the way, I'm using 4.9.2.70 as well, and don't have any problems. So this is very very strange.

  • Can you folks that are having problems tell me if you're having this issue on the full character load option?

I had the finger bone issue in Daz Studio 4.9.2.70 with the AlienX character preset, applying AlienX Wearable preset to Genesis 3 Male and applying the AlienX full body morph to Genesis 3 Male

My Genesis 3 Male Starter Essentials is installed via Daz Connect.  I'll uninstall and re-install via DIM and will report back.

    Edit:
My Genesis 3 Male Starter Essentials is installed via Daz Connect.  I'll uninstall and re-install Genesis 3 Male Starter Essentials via DIM and will report back.

    1. Uninstalled via Daz Connect Genesis 3 Starter Essentials (includes female/male)  and re-installed via Daz Connect and short finger bones still exists.
    2. Uninstalled via Daz Connect Genesis 3 Starter Essentials (includes female/male)  and re-installed Genesis 3 Male Starter Essentials via DIM and the short finger bones still exists.

In Daz Studio Public Beta 4.9.3.128 now AlienX is showing the short finger bones in both Daz Connect and DIM installed Genesis Male Starter Essentials.  Weird.

I'll restore the Daz Connect cloud folder 1_21630 (Genesis 3 Starter Essentials) from yesterday's backup and see if I can get AlienX working in the Beta again..

    EDIT EDIT:
When I restored my 1_21630 Daz Connect Genesis 3 Starter Essentials from Yesterday's backup I expected to get a working AlienX with elongtated hand bones back in DS Beta, but I didn't.  Then I remembed the picture I posted with the elongated hand bones in DS Beta was not from loading an AlienX character preset, but from reloading a Scene I had saved in 4.9.2.70.  That scene loaded with the elongated hand bones in BOTH 4.9.2.70 and Beta 4.9.3.128.

As a test in 4.9.2.70, I loaded a fresh AlienX character preset resulting in with short finger bones, saved it as a scene and re-loaded said scene back into 4.9.2.70 and the hand bones are now elongated.... Also saved AlienX as a Scene Subset showing short finger bones and reload the Scene Subset and now it has elongated finger bones.  Loading AlienX from a saved Scene Subset is the work-around that works for me.

  • Thank you for that very in depth answer and it's interesting seeing as the load out is actually saved as a wearable and subset to begin with. Very very weird indeed.

  • Lindsey saving it as a subset also worked for me thanks so much for your help. I am glad I wasn't the only one with the problem but relieved that it works properly and Josh sorry for the trouble still a great model and hope to see more. Maybe include the set file in the next one you make so this doesn't happen again I know other artist do like Raw Art 3d.

  • Whew, glad that worked for you. This was kind of an experiment as to how far we could push the G3 chassis. i know it was brand new territory for Les in some ways. The full character loadout option is actually a subset, so that's strange that it had to be resaved to work for you guys. But very glad you both got it working. Hope you enjoy the character and hope to see some cool renders.

Yes having the same problem with the hands on the full character load.  Using 4.9.2.70 Pro 64bit

Saving the scene, reloading it and re-appling the pose corrects the issue.

It seems like this should be reported to Daz as a bug. If a saved scene file reopens with a character in a different configuration than it was saved in, I would think that something is wrong with Daz Studio, the DSON format, or the way the product was created. I had a similar issue with George Expandable morphs which I reported (the character looked different after saving and reopening a scene file).

I will email them about this and see if it's a problem with DS or if it was a problem with how it was saved out

Pretty sure it's most likely a DSON error since folks are getting it working by saving out a scene subset, which tells me it might have been a conflicting error

when it was saved out on this side. I hate that this is an issue, and wonder if everyone who bought the figure is having the same issue.
