The question is: WHAT Am I doing wrong?

okay, so I made this Bikini Top
http://www.ShareCG.com/v/66421/view/5/3D-Model/wc-bikini-top-obh

That's the raw OBJ.

I imported into DS. It's DAZ Studio Scale, by the way.

I called up Genesis
I shaped Genesis to Victoria 5
I selected the top
I selected the Transfer Utility (Edit, Object, Transfer Utility)

Source Item: Genesis
Item Shape: Morph: Victoria 5
Scene Item: WC Bikini Top
Projection Template: Shirt
Reverse Source Shape from Target is Checked
Fit to source figure

and I get this:

400 x 400 - 37K

    Don't use shirt...use bodysuit (tight).

But did you model it to the base Genesis?

    Hi...

That kind of looks like it might be a scale issue...

Did you set V5 to 100% scale in DS before you exported out to .obj for use in your modeler?

If you didn't, then when you run it through the Transfer Utility is will compound the scale of the source figure...

    nicci... :)

A little tip, always model around the default Genesis shape and never around a morphed shape, saves you a lot of grief later.

it must be scale issue. when you use transfer utility with Item shape (morph) option,
you may need to check first the morph change genesis root node scale or not.

if when you apply the morph, the figure change root node scale ,
as nicci said, you need first change the figure scale to "100%".
with the obj parented the root node of genesis.
it means you need to adjust the obj shape V5 shape 100% genesis scale.

sometimes you may need adjust the obj positon for V5 100 scale shape too.

then export it as obj, and reimport again.
select the improt obj as target then use transfer utilty as same as before.

it is same when you use A3 shape for genesis morph. with transfer utility option.

on the other hand, clone shape not change rig scale and move rig . It has no sub components.

so when use transfer utility ,if you have clone shape, or you make the shape morph which not change rig scale,
(maybe it can be called clone shape) just move vertices and change the size of figure.

you can use it as transfer option. they have no scale issue.

    Okay.... list:

I built it around Victoria 5, which I thought Bobbie25 did regularly... so scale...

Yah, I understand about Default Genesis... I think I'm going to try to build stuff around that first from now on...

Body Suit... I'll try that too...

kitakoredaz, I'lll try your method first.

Would agree looks like a scaling issue. I have heard that you can model around the basic female figure but haven't tried it myself. Intend to use the default.

I guess I'll just re-model it over the base Genesis shape...

I know with morphs for clothing that you can change the scaling to 100% and model over the shape successfully for clothing morphs. I don't know if that would work for original clothing items I haven't thought to try...

this is what I was afraid of... missing the target... this was modelled on default genesis...

    Gonna try with Basic Female...

Fugazi did a tutorial on creating a bikini. I don't have time now but I'll check later what he recommends basing it on...

I do not say many thngs, because afraid you complicate,,

but you may need same step when you make new morph target to adjust and overwrite the
generated character morph\ (which change scale) too.

eg when you make perfect fit bikini shape for Aiko3 character shape as morph target,
then import and overwrite FBMaiko3 wihch auto generated to your bikini, by morph loader pro, or
hexagon bridge,,there is same scale issue.

whenever make clothing or make adjust morph for genesis character ,,
working with the 100 % scale character shape. I hope it may help some,,

    Hi...

Glad it all worked out... :)

    As kitakoredaz just pointed out...

General rule of thumb... always make sure the scale of your source figure is at 100% before exporting...

This applies to making clothing, accessories or morphs...

    nicci... :)
