Sorry I've not been about in a few days everyone.  I've started volunteering at our local Animal Protective League.. and there was some training I had to attend before they would let me work with the animals.  Such a great cause.  If you are on facebook.. feel free to look me up.. I've done some videos of my new friends too...

Anyway... I'll work on my lights this weekend... :)

I have been debating if I want to do a challenge for next year.  Should I bring it to a 'non-biased' forum???  One with less rules??? Keep it here?  I like being able to say what I want when I want to without worry.  I like to encourage other programs too.... Not just Daz.  Feel free to experiment.  I bought Poser 9 a while back and still haven't used it.

What are your thoughts???  I have another forum that would welcome us if we wanted to move the challenge there... but it means you will need to sign up with another forum.  Let me know what you think.

Llola, I would be happy if you do another challenge next year. If you want to bring it to another place (for whatever reason) I can understand, but I have to admit that I most probably won't be following. I'm here and on dA and with the comic in planning I will be on the webtoons site as well, which is more than enough to spend way more time looking and reading than I really wish to (at leat for me its always like I start with one thread and then I start looking into others which might be interesting as well and within a month or so I'm reading through amount of stuff that shouldn't eat my time I could use doing things that actually satisfy me). So I'm working on keeping that effect as small as possible in the moment.

There is no rule saying you couldn't use other software as long as its 3d as far as I know, so using poser should be no problem per say

Llola, I have to agree with Linwelly in hopes that you host another year here. You have hosted three threads here at the Art Studio that I have enjoyed very much. However, only you know the level of your frustrations and your time constraints and sometimes you need to do what is right for you.

If you could continue your render challenges either here or on DA that would work for me (since I'm there often too). Whatever works best for you though! smiley

I'd prefer it remain here, but whatever you need to do!

ok.. I guess I'll keep it here... til they kick me out.  I'm still quite upset with Daz pulling my products from the store and I didn't realize how much it would hurt my feelings.  I just can't seem to 'get over it.'  Being here just digs the knife in deeper.... and ... not being able to talk about it makes me even more upset.

Not sure if DA has a forum... That may be a good plan B since most of you have accounts there.... I'll have to check into it.  Thanks for the feedback.

    Hugzzzzzzzzzzzz all around!  Merry Christmas!

DA does have a forum, never used it though. The link is in the More section at the top right of the web site. Looks like there is a Community section with a Projects category for topics like personal contests.

Rather than using the forum, I've seen artists like SickleYield use Journal entries for render challenges (see page 3 in her journal history for a couple of render challenges). That way you could create a journal entry for each month's challenge, which could make it more manageable. Only your watchers will see your journals though, unless someone just happens to visit your site.

Thanks Dawnblade.. I checked over at the DA forum.. There doesn't seem to be a 'challenge' area... I've started a thread there to ask but I'm not sure if I'll get a response.  I'll keep everyone posted.  I'd sure hate to miss you all... and I've enjoyed hostessing the challenge.

I vote to stay here - but you have to do what you are happy with !

    Merry Christmas

I can understand why this place lost its charm for you. I'd be happy to do another year of challenges, but I'm already juggling the maximum amount of forums and other semi social sites, so I don't think I'd join another ons just for this challenge. I simply lack the time (and mental capacity, but that's lass relevant).

I am over at dA, though. If you issue challenges in journal entries, I'm game. Not sure I watch you there yet, but that's just a click away.

By moving it to another site you lose contact with most of the customer base at Daz 3d,  and Daz is still the biggest market place for content.

Deviant Art may be bigger for image based content,   but most of it just gets totally buried and therefore ignored.

As my Time of Day entry was a holiday image, I decided to do something different for Lights.

    Nocturnal

    Nocturnal, by L'Adair

I've been hard at work on my second entry for the It's Raining Men contest, (linked in my signature if anyone wants to view the entries; or better yet, enter one of your own,) and I needed a break from posing the men, at least one pose starting from the T-Pose. It's back to the guys in the morning.

Superbe image @L'Adair. Night scenes are not easy to do and it is a success! The story telling is great too.

@Llola Lane I really appreciate this challenge and would love to have a 2018 version. I'd rather have it held here at DAZ but DA would be OK.

Anyway thank you so much for this thread and your time, you are a great hostess. And, to me, this thread was never restricted to Daz Studio (but to 3D renders) as I entered one or two renders done in Carrara.

Great image L'Adair, The background sky, landscape and dear make a wonderful winter scene and the UFO makes it all the more fun.

I understand that Chohole... but since I'm not a PA anymore... I don't need to worry about a 'customer' base.  I think of most everyone here as friends rather than customers so I'd be loosing 'friends' I know.. but since this challenge is done for fun... I am just wondering if it is worth it.  I have most everyone as friends at DA.  I'll think on it a bit more this weekend and let everyone know in a day or so.  I already have a theme year in mind for my photography challenge... I will use those themes for here as well.

Oh  L'Adair ... that is WONDERFUL.  I'm so glad you took a break from your Men..  It was well worth the wait.  Thanks for sharing!

I for one will be sad if you decide to do this. I know I haven't joined in much for a while,  I am still trying to get my mojo back after bereavment,  .  When I was removed from the rendo store,  way back when, I carried on with everything else I was doing over there, including running the challenge arena for a while.  I personally think the challenges for the sheer hell of having a challenge are great,  much more fun.

Sorry, but no, I'm not doing a Santa for the competition this year. I'm putting all three of the Sicilian brothers from Darwin'sMishap(s)—Giovanni, Salvatore and Giuseppe—into a single scene. The two older brothers are easy, working together, but I have to fit Giuseppe in, too. And he's a bit more problematic for the scene I'm doing. I'll let you know when it's finished and posted.
