I have a Huion too onlu I this one: .https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GIGGS6A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The only thing you have to watch about the Huion is that you need to disconnect from wifi before you plug it in the first time. Sometimes windows will try and auto assign drivers instead of using the ones on the disk that come with it...
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Whichever tablet I get, I need to make sure it also works in Linux as I use that as my main operating system and the Windows drive is mostly for emergencies and the few things I don't have working in Linux yet.
I've had two WACOM tablets. The first one was 12x12 with a copy of Painter for the academic price. I was thinking big would be good, but unless your "brush" stroke is large, a big tablet was just cumbersome. So now I have a smaller WACOM and love it. WACOM is the name in tablets, so consider that. I definitely recommend WACOM, and you don't have to get a big one. Mine is the Intuos, a nice medium sized tablet. It was less than $200 at Amazon.
This is my dream tablet - but I had better be making money on my art before getting this one (drool)...

I have a WACOM Bamboo, the simple pen tablet with no extra buttons or fanciness. It wasn't expensive (I think about € 50 or € 60 when I got it about 3 years ago) and serves me well.
Playing with some characters I picked up in the Rendo sale. Some are extremely photorealistic. This is Rania for G3F by Anagord. I really love how she renders!
Better not bite that apple!
The face looks nice, but the skin seems a little flat to me, especially next to the clothing or the apple. Probably needs less ambient and more directional lighting.
But I love the Snow White outfit - Disney colors but not exactly Disney. I also love her expression. She really looks like she's thinking about it.
I could probably tweak the lighting a bit. That dress is the MFD with the old Snow White textures available on ShareCG. Mylochka did a whole series of Disney Princesses. Really fun stuff. I was surprised the texture came out as good as it did, since it's older and for 3Delight.
Just posting this real quick. I've been lost lately in rendering and blowout sales. I shouldn't have indulged but I did. Could not resist the prices! More renders coming soon!
Llynara's Top Picks for April 2017
So I looked back on just what I rendered in April. I got derailed mid month and didn't render anything for a week or two. Here are my top picks for April:
That's become one of my favorite hobbies! LOL
So glad you liked Evan so much- and you've definitely had fun with the centaurs! lol .....I couldn't even go back and try to remember what I've done for April. O.o
The centaurs are becoming some weird addiction. I want to make everyone into one! Watch out!
LOL- get to it!
Yes, but first, the elves need a little love! Here's HinkyPunk's Vulluin for M4. Poor guy is on clearance at Rendo, so I picked him up for a song and brought him home. He's lovely in Iray! I'm tweaking the Xurge Necromancer outfit, learning how to get some of this Poser stuff looking better in Iray. Fun, fun. Still some tweaks to be made but I really like how this one is coming out. (As always, click for bigger pic!)
"An Elf for All Seasons"
That's a beautiful render (and elf... I might have a thing for elves), probably one of my faves. You should make wallpapers :)
I was trying to work with Xurge's Medieval Royalty on G2M, but am having a time with warping around the groin. Did you have that trouble with your Xurge outfit?
I love the rays around his head! Lovely render!
Thank you all! I'm glad you like it.
@Worlds_Edge I will be more than happy to make these into wall papers. It's good practice since I'm getting into the book covers. I love wallpapers. I need to finish my stargazer one too.
@dracorn - I didn't have too much trouble with him because he's an M4 and slightly thinner than the regular shape. I also tried this on a beefier M4 and did have to adjust a little in the crotch because of his build. I didn't notice any problems when I put this outfit on Evan for G3M here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/uploads/FileUpload/00/acdfe51505587b8353bef79e49dd52.jpg
Let me try it on Hugh and see how it looks. Have you tried using some smoothers on it? I know Valzheimer had said sometimes the crotch goes wonky and that was the workaround.
@chameleonsdream Thanks! That's actually the sun coming through the trees in a background picture but I love it framing his head so I went with it. Happy accidents!
FYI- Xurge is having a birthday bash and everything at his store is 50% off. Lots of Generation 3 items for $3, and Generation 4 items for $6. Really nice stuff! The Necromancer in the pic above was $6. The materials need a little tweaking. Many are just super glossy in Iray. I threw Uber on Necromancer and turned the glossy down to .10 or even 0 in some cases. Much better!
Castleguard for M3
Here's Tempesta3D's Robert for G3M (Rendo) wearing Xurge's Castle Guard for M3 ($3!) I had to use smoothing on the feet, but everything else fit well using the Wear Them All Expansion. I threw Uber on the everything and played with material settings. Turning down glossy and turning up metallicity had some interesting results (see below.) I think the mantle (around the face) needs smalling tiling but adjusting in the surfaces tab makes it shrink really weird. I may have to find or create a new texture for that from the old one. Not bad, though. I did put Sub D on and boosted it, but it still looks the same. I don't have it turned on for anything else.
I did use Mec4D leather shaders on the gloves, pants and boots because the defaults looked so low res. Everything else has their original textures. So, more tweaks needed, but happy with how it's looking. As always, click on pics and zoom in for a lot more detail. And yes, I get lazy and use the same backgrounds sometimes. If they're an elf or a warrior, chances are they will get thrown into these woods. Everyone eventually ends up here! LOL
Metallicity at 1.0: I like it shiny!
Metallicity at .8: Looks more aged/battle scarred:
Metallicity at .5: Not liking this. It looks weirdly glossy. I probably need to turn down the gloss in some areas for that one to work.
I like the first one best, but I suppose something between one and two would be good for armor that has seen battle. As for the last one, might be good to remember the settings when you need "mother of pearl" texture - that's what it looks like to me.
The elf image is outstanding! I want everything from Xurge lol does Wear them all work well on his stuff?
Make sure you back up the stuff from Xurge.... I haven't tried the wear them all, will try and do one today if I can.
Thanks, and yes, I've used Wear Them All on all most of the Xurge stuff I've shown. The elf is an M4, but I put it on Evan for G3M and it worked fine. The Wear Them All Expansion worked for Robert for G3M in the Castle Guard (M3) outfit.
I converted the Dragon Princess from v3 to Genesis to Genesis 2f just fine. I will post the render on my thread as I don't want to dump my stuff in Llynara's lap so to speak lol.
Feel free to post here. The more, the merrier!
Okay, here is the conversion from v3 to G2F. I would imagine moving it up to G3F would not be an issues
Somebody had asked how Xurge3d clothing for v3 and v4 converted to the higher generations.
This is V3 Dragon Princess auto fitted to genesis (pink hair) saved as a Figure/Prop asset then moved to Gen2F. The transfer utility did not work as well moving the top to G2F but it autofitted beautifully. The pants were done with the transfer utility.
Looks like it fits great! I like the design across the shoulders. I just picked up some more M3 stuff, I'll render it soon. Some things are harder than others to bring into Iray. Necromancer for M4 (in the Elf pic) seems to hold up well. Others take a lot more fiddling, but they all seem to be fitting okay.
Here's some wide screen Hottie Elf Wallpaper for anyone who wants it. LOL. I can tailor it to any size. Let me know what you need.
Note: I'm still not happy with his hair. It looks kind of chunky to me. Some of the older hairs do, even with new shaders. I'm wondering if some smoothing modifiers might help. Otherwise, I'll have to paint it. I took off the leg armor. It was weirdly distorted. I also corrected a few collisions.
Very nicely done! It's a great wallpaper, Llynara.
Doesn't look like you are having a problem. Here's my issue with it: M4 Medieval Royalty converting to G2M. I really had to fiddle around with fitting using Fit Control for this to work, but for the life of me, I can't get the warping around the groin to straighten.
Do you ever have a problem with clothes inflating over a custom character (G2M)? There is a huge gap between the clothes and the character after the autofit. It requires Fit Control and a whole lotta patience to bring it down to remotely fit that character. It did that with Vandetta, which was designed for G2M, so what gives?
