Marvelous Designer: can someone explain this to me?

I saw in one of the videos that there is an import setting for DAZ Scale... which interests me, of course, since I use DS...

Then I'm seeing that for importing motion data, it requires OpenCollada: http://opencollada.org which does not seem to have a DS pluggin...

So... I'm a little confused... what exactly are the advantages to using Marvelous Designer in concert with DS, if any?

Will this be a new option for Dynamic Clothing in DS?

You can use MS to make and drape clothing onto a Genesis or other model, but you cannot use it as dynamic clothing in DS. You have to rig it just like any other item I'm afraid.

There was supposed to have been a plugin to be able to use this with DS but nothing has been seen of one yet.

I should have guessed you'd be on top of this, Wendy! :) Thanks for the response.

Given all that it does make making clothing a lot easier for the non-initiated modeler but as said it needs rigging to be of use in Daz Studio/Poser or Carrara. I dabbled when it first came out with the trial version but the price was out of my reach at the time and my modelling interests lie elsewhere now.

can be used in Poser, as you use an obj for Dynamics in Poser

THis was a quick render of a dress made in MD, used in poser. Is offered on share CG as a freebie.

Can you pose a figure in DS, bring it into MD to drape, and then export the draped OBJ back to DS and not worry about rigging? Granted, you'd have to round-trip it again if you change your pose at all, but that might be acceptable for some.

Interesting... I'll look into playing with it some after I get through this terribly intense project I'm working on... thanks all!

I've only had the trial a couple of days, the pic is my first real try at a Genesis dress, I also made a Basic Female morph in MD which is what you see in the pic, I need to redo the WM as TU is useless with anything with a skirt.

Here's a dress I made in MD and then rigged to Genesis. It's available on ShareCG
