If i render in Daz Studio 4.5 Pro without using a background the standard background colour is always visible in the render. Is there a way to set the standard background to invisible?

Save as a .png. Only way I know of.
PNG or Tiff - both store an alpha channel which an image editor or viewer will either treat as transparency or as a saved mask (alpha channel). Though if you are going to use that it's probably a good idea to change the background colour, to black or to a colour that matches the background the image will appear on. You can change the colour via the Viewport option menu - click the menu button in the top corner and select Background colour....
Thank you very much for the fast answers and for your help.
