Hi Mister Cripeman.
Thank you for this tutorial, I would never have thought of using a volumeric cloud like particles, the result is impressive especially when I imagine an animated scene !
You often speak about the speed of render and I realize that you often have only one processor which works whereas the others have finished for a certain time, why do you not regulate the tile size to the minimum (16) in the render tab ?
Thank you for all your tutorials, it is much thanks to you that I evolved with Carrara (I have links for each one in my Firefox favorites) !
Thanks again !
Hi DUDU.
First thank you for saying such nice things.
If these are helping in any way...they are serving their purpose. :cheese:
Secondly
I'm totally changing the settings now...
Thirdly
Is their going to be a catastrophes part 2?
it looked like you put in a lot of work. you had to animate a lot of things here...
I am studying Realflow to begin part 2.
I consider some effects which would be unthinkable to realize with the particle system of Carrara.
This weekend, I will make tests with your new tutorial because I would like to recreate the vapor produced with water which fall into lava.
I believe it is possible…

this one is for creating convincing vines ... hang around for the crash at the end....grr
Enjoy :D
Thank you. Really appreciate these.
Thank you for the appreciation.

This one shows how to get your Poser Runtime into Carrara....enjoy.

this one shows a couple of things about soft shadows.
Enjoy!!! :D
Thank you Master !
Still a feature which I never use because I don't know !
I will use it from now.
Still thank you!
I was going to comment on the youtube page, but youtube's comments have been very flaky for me.
Anyway, a couple comments are that the shadow artifacts that you were getting initially probably had more to do with the quality settings of the raytraced shadows as opposed to the shadow bias- at least in my experience.
Phil was spot on as you would expect him to be, in that the raytraced shadows behave more realistically than the shadow buffer, but they are slower to render.
My opinion is that shadow buffers look better in an animation than they do in a still image as long as you remember the limitations.
Those limitations are that the shadow buffer does not render through transparencies. Meaning if you make a wall and use an alpha to make it look as though there is a hole or window in it, the shadow will still be for a solid wall, whereas if you use a raytraced soft shadow, the virtual hole or window will be rendered in the shadow.
Another limitation to shadow buffers is the dreaded glowing nostril look, or glowing mouth/teeth look similar to what you get if you turn off or lower the shadow intensity. For better quality, use a higher shadow map setting within reason. If it begins to take longer than a raytraced soft shadow, you've probably set it too high.

This one has us playing with the Non Photo Renderer.
Enjoy :)
Wow! Not at all what I was expecting... very cool demonstration, neighbor! ;)
Thank you. It turns out I was completely misunderstanding how the brush size works. Great, as always. But no Kapow?

Haha ..No Kapow... this time....
Thanx Dart... how's your story coming?

This one shows how to get a little Atmosphere around your planets.
Enjoy
:D
And a great tutorial it is too!
I didn't know this option of basic shapes, I just play with your tuto and a sphere and I can make a fake of aura when the cloud is colored.
That could be nice if there was "object" as basic shape.
One more good tuto from you to put in my list !
PS: DS... NEVER !!!
Another great Tutorial, I shall be using this on my next project.
Follow you on youTube, hope you are still recovering well.
Thanks.
Thanx Porthos
Life is normalizing and I'm doing well.
Doc said y'all are gonna be dealing with me for some time to come.
:cheese:
Great to hear that Cripeman
I'll look forward to seeing more 'Kapow' videos.
Keep well.
:-)
Good news indeed!
Welcome back Cripeman!
Awesome news! :)
Just a quick note:
Another nice set of parameters to play with (possibly to reduce the artifacts) are opacity, brightness, and color. Also, the "Scale" parameter (at least with cloud-like clouds shapes) is a scale multiplier for the cloud's volumetrics. So cranking it even lower may be the key to getting rid of the banding artifacts. Increasing it may have a cool effect too.
Just food for thought since I think that this a a really cool way to add planet atmospheres! Bravo, sir!
Did you know that Magaremoto (a DAZ artist whom frequents this forum) uses the sphere v-cloud for volumetric lighting? Yeah! He surrounds the scene with one of those and uses it as a light... somehow. Pretty cool!
Thanks for this tutorial--I had a lot of fun with it! It cleared my mind from the V7 haze--and reminded me about the align tool----awesome!!
Cheers chap, I'm gonna try that technique sometime.
Glad you're on the mend :)
Think I am going to try these NPR tips on a doodling project. Either the RRRR stuff in the commons forum or the Room with a View Challenge.
