Moving Content/My Library to Win 8

I've read up on all the threads relating to using the D|S installers with Windows 8 and how you have to be in Compatibility mode. But what about content that is already installed? I am getting a new computer and am planning on using the exact same paths with the new machine as I have on my current one. So I am thinking I can just copy what I have backed up to my external harddrives to the new computer's harddrive without installing any of the old stuff. Would that work? I won't have the new computer for a couple of weeks.

Copying installed content should be fine - you don't even have to use the same paths, as long as the stuff within the content directory stays in place and as long as you point DS to the content directories.

Great - thanks, Richard. That's good news. I am assuming when I install the program itself, I also have to use the Compatibility Mode?

Edited to add: And if so, does the same go for other programs such as Vue 11 Infinite and PoserPro 2012, etc?

I don't know, I would try without first and see how it goes. Windows 8 is new enough, and different enough, that it may cause issues as with some installers (but I think mainly those that need the updater batch file for Gen 4 morphs).

Thanks again, Richard. I think I'll post the question in the Renderosity Vue forum. I've noticed a few people are running Vue on Win 8 so someone will probably know.
