BUMP MAP CONVERSION
After purchasing 'core complex' and...finally... locating an icon for it in 'content library', I noticed (when it didn't seem to work properly- it turned solid black)...I noticed the notation below:
Note to P4 users:
Poser 4 users will need to convert several bump maps from .jpg files to use the P4 files properly.
These Bump Map files are:
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_Detail01BUM.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_Detail03BUM.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_Flr01.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_Flr02BUM.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_Metal01BUM.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_Panel01BUM.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_Panel02BUM.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_Panel04BUM.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_SectionEndBUM.jpg
:Stonemason:GSFC:GSFC_WaLLBUM.jpg
When I clicked on 'bump map conversion help' link, it takes me to the page that keeps reappearing: 'We are sorry, the page you are looking for cannot be found'.
(and Daz tech doesn't seem to want to call me back.)
Frankly, I don't understand what the instruction is asking me to do, or how to do it. Anyone know?- who can speak beginner language?
(I wish to make purchases, but hesitate to make them until I can find out if they will work.)

It only matters if you're using a very old version of Poser (E.g, Poser 4). It used ".bum" files instead of .jpg files. If you're using DAZ Studio (any version) or any version of Poser newer than P4, you don't have to worry about it.
The conversion was something that had to be done in Poser 4 - it hasn't eveer been needed for DAZ Studio, and isn't needed fro more recent versions of Poser. What application are you using?
You may need to apply the jpgs manually in the bump channel in the mat room, but as long as you have the jpg, that is all you need. They don't need converting, for the reasons the others have told you.
Thanks everyone! That helps!
By the way...when I make a purchase....say....a clothing set for example....and it says compatible with Daz Studio, is it compatible with Daz Studio 4.5? (I don't want to purchase an item that doesn't work.)
Unless it's something new and in the DS 4.5 specific format, clothing sets should 'work' with almost any version of DS (yes, there's probably some that won't work with versions before 2 or 3...but generally). It's more of having to be concerned with the figures the clothing is for, than the main program version.
DS4.5 will still read and use the older content, just fine (for the most part), but Genesis can't wear the older clothing without either 'autofit' (which only handles fourth generation...V4, M4, K4, etc, out of the box) or manually converting it (same as autofit...third generation figures need an add-on to autofit/manually convert...the Gen3 shapes packages, to be specific). For props and sets/environments...most will work fine. Some plugins/add-ons/shaders need to updated for DS4.x and haven't been, many have and it should list that in the product description.
Thank you for quick reply! Helps a lot!

Not always true [sadly]. Some of the older files have been updated and no longer work as once they did in D/S4.0 let alone 3.
One of the volunteers told me that Daz Studio in the product required section refers to D/S4.5 and [hopeful they are] new versions not yet released.
So "D/S4.5, Daz Studio, Poser" does not necessarily mean it will work in D/S4.0 or 3.
Not a guarantee, but checking the product page to see if it mentions ".duf" or ".dsf" helps. [.duf being for 4.5, not 4.0]
