Adding Content.
Hi everyone,
First off, I am still really new to all of this, so please go easy on me.
I have been having great fun learning how to do things and making my first few pictures (I will not show any on here yet, because I am no where near as good as some of you yet). I have two questions if I may.
First off, how do I add things to the "smart content" window? I have got a few thing in the last few days but they do not show up in there. Is there even a way to do this?
The second question is about how you do things. It takes me a long time to find items in the "contents library". How do you sort your items out? I would like to group things together. An example is at the moment I have a number of places for my base models. So Victoria 3, 4 and 5 are all in different places, and to be honest I keep on forgetting where they are. I know that there is a search bar, but for what ever reason, it does not always find the items I am looking for. So how do you sort things out?
Thanks for your time, and I am looking forward to hearing what everyone does.

Question 1: What iems did you install that are not showing up in Smart Content? As some older content don't have the Metadata needed to work with the Smart Content Pane.
Question 2: Yes in the Content Library Pane (Not Smart Content Pane) if you right click on a folder or sub folder you can assign the content to a Catagory so in theroy you could group all you figures together in one folder under Catagories.
I don't have access to Daz Studio so I can't take screenshots or do a step by step...All I have is my memory.
Hi Szark,
Well for starters in the Smart Content Pane, it will show people as a heading. Under that it will show Victoria 3 and 5 actors, but it does not show that I have Victoria 4/4.2 or Stephanie 4 and the so on. But I also have actors under Figures. There I have Genesis, basic male and the so on. So is there anyway that I can add Victoria 4 to one of the lists or add the lists together? I have also brought a few wardrobe items. Again if I look for them in the Contents Library I will find them in the end, but they are not shown in the Smart Contents. Is there a way to have say.... A user pane or something that I can add the bits too? Oh and another item that I have just thought of, is the Centurion outfit. The main outfit is listed but add-on's to the outfit that I brought (different colours and the likes) are not. They are listed in the Content Library ok but not in the Smart Pane. I find it strange.
I can see what you mean now with the Content Library. I will give that a try. Thank you for that heads up. Anything will help at the moment so that I can find things. I am sure that you can understand when I say that it is a pain to try and find something when you have an idea but you can not find it easy.
I am sure that these are very basic things, but I can not find my way around them. Thank you for replying to me and any help that you have given me.
Actually no it's not easy. Items that do not have Metadata (the Smart Part) will need Metadata hand made for them. To make my Life easier I just closed my Smart Content Tab, open the Content Library Tab and started to Catagory all my content. Now I can find my stuff easy because its where I put it.
As I don't use Smart Content I can say what has Metadata and what doesn't and how to set yur own up. If it hasn't got metadata then it won't show up in Smart Content. I have a vague recolection that you can assign content in the Content Library to show up in Smart Content and you can make you own metadata too.
Well to be honest I have never found it a pain to find things apart when vendors use wierd naming conventions. Anyways the way I have my content set up suits my way of thinking. I don't use Smart Content much and never use Catagories now but prefering to split up all my content in to different content folders http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/11176/#160848 from the get go.
Hi Jaderail,
Ok thank you for letting me know. It is a shame that I can not add to the smart panel. What I will do is spend some time sorting out the Content Library.
Thank you again for getting back to me.
Thanks Szark,
Thanks for the link to the other thread. I will give it a try tomorrow when I get home from work.
Thanks for your help also. :-)
Our (my) pleasure to help out when we can.

Ah Ha, no wonder I could not find your stuff Cridget. Okay, thought it was me.
Thank you for the link cridgit. I have just read through it, and it is outstanding. I for one, want to say a BIG thank you for your hard work and to leaving me the link. I will be giving it a try today. I get a feeling that it is our loss that you have taken down your tutorial, but I do understand why.
Can I please take the opportunity to thank Szark, Jaderail and cridgit for the help that you have given me. With out that help, I would be really lost in what I am doing. I just hope that one day I can help you out the way that you have helped me.
