Is there way to divide / add a material zone?
Is there way to divide / add a material zone?
For instance, Genesis' fingernails are all one color or based off of one texture map. My teen girl character is creative enough to want different fingernails to be different colors. She wants to paint a puppy face on her first finger, a lightening bolt on her second finger, a bloody dagger on her third finger, and a halo on her pinky. She wants her thumb black, but only on Wednesdays. I know it's possible to create a texture for "the fingernails" that includes all of this, but what if she wants to interchange the 2nd and third fingernail textures on Tuesdays? Is it possible to subdivide the fingernail texture so that I she can paint each nail independently?

Here's my tutorial on how to create a custom material zone in DS Pro: http://www.canary3d.com/tutorial/Tute-CustomMatDSPro.zip
You can also do it in Poser, that tute is also up on my site with my freebies.
awesome. thank you.
Is this creating a new uv set, or is that something different? Can I create a new UV set for Genesis?
Is this creating a new uv set, or is that something different? Can I create a new UV set for Genesis? It's not the same as changing the UV coordinates. Material zones allow you to effectively create 'seams' where two types of material meet, but the positioning of textures on that area will not change. As for creating new UV sets for Genesis, we know it's certainly possible as proven by the Hitomi character which has her own unique UVs.
1) Start by exporting Genesis into your modeling program of choice and then change the UV's as desired.
2) Export the model as an OBJ.
3) Go to Edit -> Figure -> Geometry -> Load UV Set
4) Select your exported OBJ file
5) Name it.
Simple as that. UV sets are saved in My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base\UV Sets\ [Your Folder here]
