Vyusur, as you know when you use the Sun/Sky lighting in Octane, you get both sun and sky light affecting your scene. But you do have control over those elements. If you want a Sun Only lighting (ie, no Sky light) you could try turning the Sky Color to black, that way you would not get any light from the Sky part of the equation.
Phil, I aim to achieve soft transparent shadows in any picture. For this purposes I increase the size of the sun in iray parameters, change the settings of day and time. Finaly, I rotate the dome. But for now increasing the sun in octane did not give me any soft or light shadows.
Is this t-shirt better?
Carrara's native render with gamma correction turned on.

Really increase the Sun Size and you will get nice fuzzy shadows. You can also add a bit of sky turbidity to soften things too.
Phil, thank you for your tips and tricks! I have increased the sun size up to 10 and turbidity to 2,6 and I've got very nice soft shadows.
Yep, that looks way better
Looks great!
Thank you! Now I am happy with it.
Vyusur, thanks for all of those variations, and for labeling each one! I liked the last one best as well.
Agreed. It's just that different developers will include different features making them easier in one respect or another. So in the end, it still all boils down to shaders and lighting.
UnifiedBrain, my pleasure. Me too.
Off Topic - we are nearing mid-season, SteveK. Both the Astros and Nationals are still looking good. Might I see one of the teams as defending World Series champs at their joint Spring Training facility next year?
My syllabus for the Fall semester is due. Looks like I really am returning to academia in the short run. Wonder if I can work in some Carrara animations instead of lecturing.
Congratulations Astros!
