What, no more comments about my Iray "Secret Valley" experimental render?!!
Anyway I think I'm just getting to the cusp of understand what is an Iray surface, and what is incompatible... playing around quite a bit with the IDG Iray Props and Shaders set.
Watch out for these giant, "Meeting With Medusa" -like gas bags when travelling through this part of the cosmos! Reminds me of Douglas Trumbull's special effects for the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey". I guess I can distort the props a bit more from stock with the deformer tool(s) in DS? Or should I export to Hexagon or Sculptris and go from there?

Btw (forgot to mention) I think this stuff is best used in dark scenes, as a transparent layer. Below, a screenshot of me rendering the shark image as a TIFF file.
The stuff reminds me of black light theater. You can even make textures that look like irises.
Awesome! I LOVE random abstract art. I can't wait to see what come next.
I was just reading something about flipping normals (to make the textures go on the OTHER SIDE of the iray sfx props?) and the person has at least one script that does a kaleidoscope function of some sort - https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts8/mcjkaleidoscopemaker.
One of the images is a lot like my "iris", above. Thanks, Tobor.
