Color Picker for Daz Studio

If this has already been discussed somewhere, please forgive me... and maybe point me to where the discussion is :)

If not....

What I'd like to know how to do is create a script that would allow a user to say load a pair of shoes, apply a base bump/spec/normal and then select material zones as wanted and have the ability to hover their mouse OVER a color picker image and change the color of that material zone.  Is this something that is possible or no?
