Seam Guides question
I have 3 seam guides
Genesis, V5, and M5
I thought that Gen was used to make V5 and M5...so why is there is seam guide for it? I'm trying to make textures to use for Gen...and I have no idea which 1 to use.
The Gen seam guide has Male and Female limbs, but the face is used for both male and female.
Which ones do I use?

In truth, you can use any or all. Genesis can switch between different UV sets at the click of a button, meaning it can use any of the Gen4 maps or Vic and Michael 5. Of course, by using the V5 and M5 maps, anyone who uses your maps will need a copy of V5 or M5 respectively, which might explain why so many textures lately are V4 based.
As far as I know the 'Genesis' UV's aren't actually used for anything at the moment. At least, no publisher I know of has created any skins which use them. Even the 'Basic Male' uses M4 mappings, while 'Basic Female' uses V4.
Copy of V5 & M5????
Doesn't Genesis turn into them?
Only If you have bought V5 and M5.
Oh...lame
What's the difference between V4/M4 with V5/M5?
Shape wise, not quite so much. V5 is a little shorter though. However, Genesis has a major advantage over the classic V4 figure in that you can morph it very easily. You can blend bits of different character in to make a completely unique figure, including the classic V4/M4 shapes if you buy the iconic shapes pack.
Because of the morphing power of the figure, it also means that outfits and poses designed for V5 work on M5 and vice versa. An extreme example of this is below (tee hee). This means that no matter how much the figure is morphed, the outfits will still fit (mostly, there are a few minor exceptions for very extreme morphs). No more having to buy a pair of jeans for four different characters. Just get one and reuse it for other body types.
I know about the morphing figure...I knew that much
What I'm trying to figure out if I should convert V4/M4 skin textures over onto the Gen US map...or if it doesn't even matter
Genesis can use V4 and M4 textures without any work at all. Just open the Surfaces tab and select the proper UV map. It works before or after applying a texture, Genesis Defaults to a V4 UV texture.
I knew that, but...would it look better if I moves it on over to the Gen UV map?
Short answer...not really.
It's a matter of texture quality as opposed to which UV is being used.
I agree 100%. Its not a matter of which UV is used but the quailty of the texture applied. And in 3D art it is also a matter of the lighting and render settings. Those are things that we all learn as we go.
