What a fun release schedule! And this seems to really fit a comment on Product Suggestions of an 'ecosystem' of alien creatures.
Love it! And those little bugs he's chewing on, too. Are they something you're releasing, too?
It was originally a part of the package but it had a small geometry issue I didn't notice that requires the model to be retopped and restarted. I do plan on making more alien creatures of different types and sizes in the future for a full ecosystem like timmins stated.
Looking carefully at the picture... just how big is that "little" critter being nibbled on by the arghlookoutitscomingthisway bighugeugly critter...?
(a.k.a. the "how fast do we need to run away?" question.)
The Dune Hunter is slightly bigger than a T. rex and the Glow Creep (the little bug) is about 2-3 feet long.
Love the glow creep -- even their name is adorable!
The texture work is exquisite on this beast!
Wow! This looks awesome!
I really like the addiiton of the extra eyes and mantis limbs. Are those horns optional?
Also, what are the two dorsal holes for - wing attachments?
The horns are not optional and the holes on its hips are a way for the animal to exhale under various conditions (pressure, environmental hazards, etc) much like a whale's blowhole.
Useful to know!
Someone needs to create some 'Dino Riders'-style seats, robotic limbs and weapons for these creations of yours. :)
Already one step ahead of you. The next line of projects I have lined up is dinosaurs and battle armor for those dinos, starting with Carnotaurus. Each one will be inspired by a military vehicle. The Carnotaurus will be like a humvee/jeep/guntruck, the Eotriceratops will be like an APC/tank, the Giga equiped like a fighter jet, and so on.
Here's some early WIP pics of the Carno's battle armor.
Dear God... You're the answer to the prayers of my 1980s youth!
All you need to do now are 'Zoids'-inspired war machines and you'll have everything dinosaur-related covered! XD
Wonderfully grotesque!! (that's a good thing...lol)
Note: if you like the eyeless thing as much as I do, you can easily just hide the eyeballs without getting annoying geometry holes or whatever.
Also thinking of adding a LAMH pelt... hee.
Bah. I attempted to add LAMH hair but the mesh is so high poly it grinds my system to a halt. Ah well.
When are you planning to release the Glow Creep? It looks great but I didn't see it in the schedule. Dune Hunter is a fantastic creation!
More alien aliens please? The eight legged, eight eyed, 'but-not-insects' type. They wouldn't always be quadropeds nor have senses evolved like ours - perhaps compound eyes or on retractible stalks around the mouth, maybe sensitive to infra-red or electrical fields? Wings might evolve from claws as much as from skin or feathers. Not enough non-humanoid aliens out there apart from a surfeit of carnivorous worms. Definitely some with fur would be nice, perhaps mixed with armoured scales as well.
I plan on doing many more creatures including aliens, demons, famous monsters, dragons, and even Kaiju. Right now my focus is what is on my roadmap which will take up most of the summer. Look out for more aliens this fall.
What I love about really nice models like this is that with even a little bit of creativity, you can transform it into various exotic different looks.
Granted, that doesn't help the folks who can't manage to do more than press a brightly labeled button to render stuff, but for most of us, it's awesome.
That is pretty awesome and pretty creative. When I model the glow creep I'll be sure to add material areas for areas in the belly and stinger to glow (as if light is coming from the inside of it) as well as glow spots.
It was surprisingly easy, actually; I just popped the displacement map into Photoshop and level adjusted it a lot. Then used that for Luminosity map.
It helps that the map is large and high quality, so it had 'room' to focus on the highest points without any obvious pixel issues.
Might get a kick out of this....

Wow, tons of fun!!! Great work.
And another... (played with the texture some more, this time making ao/curvature maps and tweaking metallicity a bit)
Also, weirdly, I've had Terra Luna for a while now and this is the first time I've used it. heh.
Love the sense of humor here!
this looks really good!
This work is amazing! Thank you for that!
I immediately bought and hurried to make a quick render.
I really need your beetles on promo, for my future action scene.
(Sorry for my bad english)
