General questions
I see models for sale and then textures for the same models. Are they to be purchased separately or is one just the textures?
Does Daz Studio have any modeling capabilities? Or does it just work with premade models?
How does one create their own models, props, clothing?
Thanks from a newb.

Check the "What's included" tab of the product page - most items will include at least one set of textures, though a few may not, but there are often additional sets available too.
No, DS is not a modelling application. It can create simple primitives, and it has DForms that will distort a model's mesh, but beyond that all mesh modification must be performed in an external application.
Any modeller that can export OBJ files can be used to create clothing and the like - rigging is done in DAZ Studio, if needed.
You should always look at the 'Required Products' on the Product Page. Texture sets do not contain any objects or geometry, and you need to already own the models that they are made for.
DAZ Studio is not a modeller. DAZ 3D have other software which can do modelling, Hexagon, Carrara and Bryce. There are a multitude of modelling applications out there, and many of them are free, like Blender and Wings 3D.
How do you create your own models, clothing and props? With difficulty, and a great deal of learning. If you have ever done any modelling in the past, it may be a bit easier, but creating the object is only the first step. You will have to UV Map it, texture it, and if it is a character rather than a static prop, you would also need to rig it (bones), That includes clothing too, although making clothing for Genesis can be a little easier.
There are lots of tutorials on modelling. The first thing to do is decide what modelling package you want to use. Download and try a few to see how you get on.
Thanks! I'm downloading Blender. Looks powerful, and complicated...
