A few questions . . .

A few questions from a user who's been away from Carrara for a few years:

I see the Landscape Wizard is grayed out in C8Pro. I used to use it quite a bit in older versions of Carrara. Is there a way to use it in C8Pro?

Never have taken the time to get my head around the Carrara material room. Is there a good tut or book out there anyone can recommend? Doesn't have to be free.

Is there a list posted anywhere of plugs that are and aren't compatible with C8Pro?

Is there a thread or tut somewhere that describes what does and doesn't import well from Poser? If not I'll untangle it on my own by trial and error. I'm very impressed so far though. Poser stuff seems to import to C8Pro very well for the most part.

Not a question, but man, I'd forgotten what an excellent renderer Carrara is. It was excellent back at version 3 for that matter. I don't think there's anything else on the market that can match Carrara's combination of render speed and quality for the price.

Not sure about the terrain wizard...

But I keep an up to date list of plugin links on the sidebar of my website (link in my sig below). You can also find an (incomplete) list of valuable plugins in an editorial there called ESSENTIAL PLUGINS FOR CARRARA...

I have Carrara 8.1 Pro, and the Wizard works fine.
File > New > Pick a Wizard or Empty scene

However, you must have the Native Content installed - for that is what contains the Wizard material.
Therefore, If you're also using the beta, you would need to install the native content in that - I haven't tried that on the beta, so not sure if that works or not

    Hi Tunesy :)

Have you downloaded and installed the "Carrara Native Content" installer.

this file contains all of the Carrara example shaders, scenes, plants, models, etc... and also contains all of the Scene Wizards.

so, without that,. you're only installing and running the main Carrara application.

    Hope it helps :)
