Problems with an UNLEASH ADD-ON
I've got a nice character pack but the make-up function only works with Poser. Today I found an add-on that was made in order to make this option run with DS 3, too. I'm working with DS 4.5
The add-on has got the following unzipped directory:
content/People/TheKids4/Materials/AliBea/Paulette/PauletteMats/3-MKUps Styled/01-Hearts(DAZ Script 2(Ascii)+01-Hearts(PNG File)
The unzipped directory of the concerned base version was:
Runtime/Libraries/Materials/FK-Materials/PauletteK4/3-MKUps Styled/01-Hearts(PoserContent)+01-Hearts(PNG File)
And here are my questions:
1. Should the unleash work on DS 4.5, too, even it is explicit offered for DS 3?
2. Should I accept the other directory for the new mats or should I choose the runtime folder path?
3. Do I have to replace the original files (PoserContent+PNG) and put the new mats there?
Comments
I don't know if these will work in DS4.5 or not, but there is no guarantee one way or another.
These files should NOT rplace the poser files, and they should be installed into the path that is shown. The folder called 'Content' was used for DS3, but the new folder for FD4.5 is called My Library. You can either install to the folder you have listed, and tell DS4.5 where to find it in the Content Directory Manager, or, add everything that is in the Content folder to your My Library folder.
Your questions
1. It may work, it may not, I have no way of telling
2. DO NOT install to a Poser runtime folder, see my notes above.
3. NO - these are DAZ Stuio files, and they must not be put into a runtime folder as already explained.
Thank you very much, Jimmy. But how do I "tell DS 4.5 where to find it" if it doesn't ask me?
And which mats do I choose in the content library: the originals or the unleashed?
(Up to now there was only laid a grey stars or hearts base on to the face but no colour when I chose a makeup style)
You want the new ones, these are made especially for DAZ Studio, and the others were made for Poser, that was why they didn't work I think. They may use Poser shaders which don't work in DAZ Studio.
ok, I can follow so far. But now I have to know
1. at which workpoint
2. I have to put in up to which last folder of the directory
If you do not have a folder called 'content', then you can put these items in the My Library folder as shown below.
My Library/People/TheKids4/Materials/AliBea/Paulette/PauletteMats/3-MKUps Styled/01-Hearts(DAZ Script 2(Ascii)+01-Hearts(PNG File)
Can you show a screen shot of the ZIP file contents for that folder, I am a bit confused too ;)
What you should do, is go into the zip file, into the content folder, and place everything that is in there into the My Library folder. You DO NOT want a content folder inside my library. Take all the stuff in the 'content' folder, and put it into My Library. If you are using a PC, it should merge into the correct folders.
Everything should be in the right place now. And both the original mats and the correlating unleashed ones are shown in the content library:
I understood, how to "tell DS 4.5 where the unleashed files are. But I'm not sure, WHEN I have to tell it up to which folder in the line.
For example:
I open my character, I choose one of the original stylish make up style mats in the POSER FORMATS / My Library .../... Materials .../ ... and click the preview "01-Hearts"
Then I can see the base design in my characters face, but without any colour or glossy.
Now I have to "tell DS the path for the unleashed mats. So I go to the Content Directory Manager and put in the path .. . DAZ Studio Formats / My Library .../ People / Materials / AliBea ... up to this very last concrete mat "01-Hearts" ?
Or don't I have to go so far in both steps but only to a head folder in both cases??
You are confusing me here :)
You don't have to tell DS where it is every time you use it, that is only to get them to show in the Content Library in the first place.
Can you see the DS materials you just installed in the Content Library? If so, just use them from there.
You may need to apply your Poser stuff first, then go to DAZ Studio Formats, and apply the DS materials. Select the Poser item in the Scene pane AND in the Surfaces pane as well, then double click on the icon to load the DS material.
Can you show me a screenshot of what you have installed in your Content Library?
The installed path of the original makeup-style-mats that only produce grey figures on the face:
Runtime/Libraries/Materials/FK-Materials/PauletteK4/3-MKUps Styled/01-Hearts(PoserContent)+01-Hearts(PNG File)
The path of the unleash mats:
MyLibrary/People/TheKids4/Materials/AliBea/Paulette/PauletteMats/3-MKUps Styled/01-Hearts(DAZ Script 2(Ascii)+01-Hearts(PNG File)
Wolpi, you have lost me.
What problem are you having?
I don;t have this item, so I don;t know what you are trying to do. I take it that these are for K4, if so, you MUST have K4 selected in the Scene pane to make them work at all, then double click to apply them.
Using DAZ Studio, you should ONLY use the DAZ Studio Materials.
Is there anything else in the Poser Formats apart from Materials, if not, then igonore the Poser stuff, and just use the DAZ Studio Materials.
You must make sure to select the item in the Scene pane that you want to apply the material to. An if thes are 'shaders' for DAZ Stuio, you will need to select the surface as well.
Wolpi, whatever it was that you did to get the grey Mats to show on the figures, so all of that again, but this time use the DAZ Stuio ones instead. These are shaders, so select the item in the Scene pane AND the Surfaces pane, then apply the DS materials.
And which surface shall I choose? Diffuse Color for the whole face??
Here are the results; the first is the normal version,
the second with the unleash add-on:
It looks like you have already done it.
You MUST Render the scene to see the effect of Shaders, you will not see it in the viewport like other textures.
Make sure you are rendering to the 3Delight Render Engine as shown below:
Wooow! It works! Thank you soooo much that you didn't lose your patience with me, dear Jimmy! I was just at the point to give up and stop to enerve you! Be fine!:kiss::kiss:
Hooray! :-) :-) :-) How could I lose patience with you :red:
I am so glad for you. Working with shaders is not easy, but you managed in the end.
Well done Wolpi!
