Saving phonemes possible?

Hiya -- I'd like to create my own phomemes (modifcations of what exists in Carrara). I was wondering if there was a way I could save them and have them easily accessible when animating. I use the M4 and V4 characters primarily.

    NLA poses,.

    Mimic for Carrara allows you to create your own Visemes (mouth/face expressions), and connect them to the appropriate phonemes (Vocal sound)

    Each expression (viseme) is saved as an NLA pose,. so you can edit/resave, create new.. and save to your (My Clips) library.

    this workflow is essential for animating your own models speaking /singing etc

    On figures like M4 V4 etc,. you should be able to edit or add morphs to thet figure,. ..then save it to your (My objects) .

    Hi 3Dage,

    What is the significance of the "Phonemes" dialogue box below? When I select a clip, and change the contents :for example from AA to IY, it doesn't change anything. It stays on AA.

    HI Argus :)

    That's the area where you load in your saved NLA poses for each face shape,.  it associates that NLA pose clip, .. with that vowel sound

    The AA should always be AA,. but when Mimic identifies that AA sound in your vocal track,. it should load the corresponding AA NLA pose clip into the timeline at that point.

    If your making your own character,. you'd create or "Capture" some NLA Poses,. then link those to the phonemes in that panel.

    In Carrara,. the poses, and the configuration of which phonemes trigger which viseme clip, are saved in the scene file, but you could also save the viseme poses to a folder in your "my Clips" section of the browser,.if you're working with that figure in different scenes.

    If you're using a Daz figure which is "mimic ready" it should have a DMC file (Daz Mimic Configuration file)

    You can simply load that DMC file for the figure,. to load the whole set of phonemes and expression poses.

    Thank you, 3Dage. Maybe it will start to make sense once I play with it some more. Overall, I think Mimic for Carrara works pretty well if you leave it on automatic. But once you start changing phonemes and visemes, IMO it becomes very non-intuitive, even confusing. That s my experience anyway. Somedy ought to make a tutorial. The manual doesn t explain everything.

    Hi Argus!
    You are right when you say that we would need a good tutorial to create our own phonemes.
    You are well placed to know that “A” or “U” English are not in the same way as in French, for example.
    I would like to create my own configuration rather than to make all my mimics manually, image by image.
