SKIN MATERIAL / SHADERS

Hi!

We know not everybody has the same skin tone and I'm trying to be able to have characters from different latitudes but I can't find anything to do this except for Carrara Surface and Skin Shaders and I don't know if this can be used with Genesis or even in the Daz program.

I've seen the ethnic packs but that's not what I need.

Help please.

Hi, lordgabux! Welcome to the forum. :)

Well, there's two main ways to change skin tone:

1. Use a different skin texture
2. Change the diffuse color (instructions below...)

Using a different skin texture would probably yield better results, depending on what you want to do. There are plenty of characters with various skin tones in the store here. But changing the diffuse color is a valid option also (and cheaper than buying additional characters). The basic, quick instructions for this are:

1. Select your figure
2. Go to the Surfaces tab
3. Select the skin surfaces that you want to change
4 Change the diffuse color (which is likely to be very light by default) to the tone of your choice

The Carrara shaders you mentioned are for use in Carrara, not DAZ Studio. In DAZ Studio, most characters use the default shader, the Elite Human Surface Shader (EHSS), or UberSurface. All three of these are included in DAZ Studio 4.5 (no need to purchase them). Also, if you can't afford them, you can also find freebie textures as part of other freebie sets from various sites, such as ShareCG.com .
