Having trouble importing a C8.1P File into C8.5P (Beta)

I think I might have found a bug in Carrara 8.5 Beta, but before I file a bug report I thought I would ask to see of anyone else has had problems either loading or importing a Carrara (.car) file made in 8.1 (Build 153) into Carrara 8.5.0.132 (the latest Beta that I can download), I have tried both opening and importing the file but it stops at 61% complete of the loading the file.

I got the following error message "An error occurred while executing Import..." once it stops.

I’m hoping that someone has a work-around for it and I’m sorry because I can’t upload the file due to the file size 33 GB.

Thanks,

I would check that it's not corrupted. Have you tried reopening it in the version that created it?

I can reopen the file in C8.1P without any trouble at all. That why I find this to be a little odd.

The OP is right though, unless they changed the file size restriction 33 (GB?!? Not MB?) is way too large. 33GB? That can't be right.....

I missed that part as I was skimming. Wow.
There's something about that file that probably shouldn't be. I've filled scenes obscenely full of stuff without even coming close to that!

Oops, my bad the File Size IS 33 MB instead of GB. I meant it's too large to upload on here.

You wouldn't be able to upload it directly to the forums anyway. I think it only accepts image files like .jpg. .bmp and .gif.

Right, but you can upload files to bug tracker
Don't think they'd like it much - to get a 33GB file though

It's been awhile since I looked at the bug tracker file size limit, but as I recall, it wasn't even enough to upload a nekkid V4. They could have changed it though.

Wendy beat me to it. :)

The bug tracker allows you to upload a file,. but it's a 5Mb limit which is pretty archaic and totally impractical for most scene files.

Dropbox, or another file upload service is the best option,. then you can post a Link on the bug tracker,.. to the file in your dropbox (public files) folder.

While it's unusual to get the error,. it's important to remember that C8.5 is a beta,..
    Also,. it's strange that you'r using C8 build 153.

The last official production release for C8 is C8.1.1.12

Either way,. you should update C8 to the latest version.

    :)
