Genesis 8 morphs compatibility

in New Users
Hello everyone,
I saw that the new genesis 8 figure is backwards compatible, does that also mean i can apply genesis 8 morphs on older models like genesis 3?
Also can i apply genesis 3 series characters on Genesis 8?
Thank you for your time.

The backwards compatibility referred to has limitations.
"apply genesis 8 morphs on older models like genesis 3?"
No.
"apply genesis 3 series characters on Genesis 8?"
No, not without doing some conversions. There is a thread in the Commons that looks into what is involved:
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/176271/morphs-from-g3-to-g8/p1
The backwards compatibility referred to is largely related to the use of clothing from previous versions of Genesis on Genesis 8, by including Genesis, Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 clones and thus allowing the use of Autofit.
Poses from previous versions do not work seamlessly without workarounds. There is thread on that, as well.
Textures from Genesis 3 generally seem to work on Genesis 8, but textures from Genesis 2 and earlier will not.
Not directly (there are several threads discussing morph conversion by various routes). It means that textures for the Genesis 3 females base UV set will work, and that there are clones for auto-fitting clothing from any other currently available Genesis figure.
I had a similar question - if a figure in the store says "Required Products: Genesis 3 Female Body Morphs / Genesis 3 Female Head Morphs"
Does having Gen8 Body/Head Morphs satisfy this requirement?
I assume not, but I am brand new to this and am basically starting inventory from scatch so bought the latest Gen 8 morphs.
thanks, Adam
There are some diferences between G3F and G8F. G3F comes with "Nailbeds", G8F without, resulting in a slightly different Polygonsize. The HD Morphs and the UV-Sets are no longer Working! I don't undestand why.........
Well, Genesis 8 is free, they will want to make money out of something... to force you to buy again (and again and again and again) the same stuff is one way. Not happening - I do not really see the point in switching from G3 to G8 yet (and probably for some years to come - still using the reliable G1 for many things).
