Weird Glitch: Can't click on character

I have a character in a setting. Normally I just click the cursor on the character and they are highlighted. But this one character isn't recognized. I have to click on the listed element in the Scene panel. Why would this happen?

Daz 4.9.2.7 on a Mac

    I think this is your problem but I am not sure:

    Check in the Scene tab for the character you can't click. There is a eye icon and to the right is either a tiny white check or a tiny white x. If it is an x, that means you can't click on it in the viewport. If it's a check that means you can select it in the viewport. You can change it back and forth to an x or a check by clicking directly on the x or check in the scene tab.
