Non-smart content doesn't seem to get applied to my scene?

Sorry if this is a ridiculously silly question... At least I'm in the Newbie forum for it!

I have some items such as Melody Hair and Lollipop Hair that I can't seem to get applied to my figure. It doesn't show up in Smart Content, so if I go to Content library, and look under Products, I can find them under their respective letters. If I double click or drag&drop; "00 Melody Hair", a dialog flashes, but my figure is still bald. Am I trying the wrong file? Where am I going wrong?

Thanks for any help or pointers.

I own Melody Hair so I thought I'd look into this...

When I followed the same procedure that you described, it had the same result (or lack thereof). However, I was able to locate Melody Hair in the Content Library, under Poser Formats>My DAZ 3D Library*>Figures>Melody Hair, and from there loaded the file "01 Melody Hair V4.cr2" and it loaded normally.

So the "00" one must be the wrong file, I suppose. I'm not sure, but I think "00" files are usually just placeholders.

*The name of this folder might be different for you...

Your not loading the FIGURE for the hair, your trying to load a Material file (Mat) or texture. I see this often. First you need the Hair item the Texture was made for, always read the Item Requires part of the Information before you buy anything from the store. Many items have add on sets like textures that can only be used IF you have the item first. Or your trying to load the Textures for the item before you load the Item. Melody Hiar is a V4 item and can come in different types, the type will depend on the person that created it. It could be a FIGURE, it could be a Prop and it could be a Hair. You need to find the folder in the Content Library Tab>Poser Formats>My Library>Figures or Prop or Hair. It does say .Cr2 in the Info section so look in the Content Library Tab>Daz Studio Formats>My Library>Figures as well. The CR2 is the part that must be loaded first.
    I hope this helps.

EDIT: Scott was dead on. 00 files are place holders. But the above info will help you in the future with other items.

Narilka, I just realized that the appropriate file (01 Melody Hair V4.cr2) actually does appear where you looked under Products...but it's way down the list, after a bunch of textures...

What Jaderail said can indeed cause this sort of issue too...the really tricky ones, at least for me, are the products that have textures in "DAZ Studio Formats," but you have to go to "Poser Formats" first to load the actual item...

Thanks, both of you! That was enough to get me going. Greatly appreciated!
