Not Getting March 60% Discount
I've been buying 2 or more of the March Madness items every day and I just realised I haven't been getting the full discount. I'm only getting 30% when it states that two or more items should be 50%. I also own one of the items that give an extra 10% discount but I've not been getting it.
I'm really annoyed about this because it means I have to contact DAZ for every March order I've made now. I thought that as a Platinum Club member this type of error would be less likely.
Just to clarify:
1. If I put two or more March Madness items in my cart I get 50% off?
2. If I own Garibaldi and Platea I get an extra 10% off of every March Madness product in my cart?
3. If I buy any of the products from the daily featured categories/artists I get the March Madness discounts?
4. There is no "get out clause" for products less than 6 months old or for any other reason if they are in the March Madness sale?
5. Do Platinum Club members get a further discount?

It would perhaps be helpful if you gave an example of what you bought and how much you were charged.
I think Daz are the only one that can really answer your questions but
1. As I understand the offer you are supposed to get a discount of upto 50% for two or more March Madness items (30% is already included and the remained is taken off the discounted price)
2. You should be getting 10% off the sale price.
3. If you buy products that are newer than 60 days old you will not get a discount.
4. In addition to above it doesn't apply to PC items or Value items.
5. New DO items (as in released on the day and a day or so after ) have a 51% discount.
I bought:
Jannah $1.99
Odd Bundle $18.87
Metal Madness $11.17
Total $32.03
Discount -$10.73
Paid $21.30
I own Garibaldi & Platea so the discount should be 60% off the original price of March Madness products. I added up the original prices for 'Odd Bundle' ($26.95) and 'Metal Madness' ($15.95) and subtracted 60% off those prices, then added Jannah ($1.99) and got $19.07 total! I paid $21.30.
Very confusing!
Hmm...
One potential problem is that Metal Madness is showing up in the store as a "new item," which might be why the March Madness discount isn't working as expected. New items (released in the past 60 days) typically aren't eligible for sales like this...but given the advertising for today's sales I guess that Metal Madness is supposed to be included in the discounts (though I can't say for sure). So that's one potential issue, and probably worth submitting a ticket. However, the total discount for buying two MM items plus owning Aiko 5, Garibaldi, or the Platea Bundle is supposed to be 55%, not 60%. It works like this: the two items in your cart are 50% off, then the additional 10% discount is applied to that subtotal, which is the same as a five percent discount off the full price for those items.
Edit: I just did the math and it looks like you got the correct discount, 55% off the two MM items. That's assuming that the extra discount for Garibaldi and Platea aren't supposed to stack, and I don't think they are...
55% is better than 50% but still I'm not sure why the 10% extra discount works out as only 55% and not 60% in total.
The sales criteria is so confusing and probably ends up causing DAZ unnecessary, time consuming and costly support requests. If they just offered two fixed discounts - one for non-PC and one for PC members it would prevent a lot of confusion.
It is the way discounts are worked out in all businesses.
For example, if DAZ are selling a DAZ Original at 30% off, and let's say it costs $15, it would cost a non PC member $10, the PC member would then get the 30% discount off the $10 which is left, not the original $15. 50% + 50% does not equal 100%, but 75%.
You get 30% or 50% off the base price, depending on whether you have one or two qualifying items in the cart.
Then you get 10% off that, which is 5% off the base price, if you have bought A5 or Garibaldi
Then you get 30% off that if you are a Platinum Club member and the items are published by DAZ itself.
Discounts multiply (you pay 50% of 90% of 70% of the full price if all discounts apply), they don't add.
50% off the original price, 10% off the alread-reduced sale price. 10% of a price that's already reduced by 50% = 5% of the original unreduced price.
I don't understand the discounting formula. I added Stonemason's Modular Ruins (featured item) to my cart along with Flower Power (Young Teens item), Interior Corridors (environment), and the Tropical Bundle (environment). All I'm getting is 30% discount. I thought that the discount on two or more items would be 50% off retail.
Modular Ruins isn't listed a a Featured item when I look, nor is the Environment category. So that would be just one MM item, the Flower Power set.
That's what I was thinking too...except the Interior Corridors are a maclean product and those are included today...so I'd expect them to be 50% off if in the same cart. I tested this, and sure enough I'm getting the 50% discount on these two...but only looking at my cart, it LOOKS as if it's a lesser discount, because the full, undiscounted prices for these items aren't displayed on the page.
DAZ really ought to do something about this, I've seen it causing a lot of the confusion plagueing the sales for the last few months — not just the MM. If the extra discounts are supposed to be taken off the base price, but the cart never shows the base price, how can we tell if the discounts are being applied properly? Considering how often we get items with broken discounting, it's a lot more work to go back to the store pages for every item in the cart, and try to figure out if the grand total discount (the cart doesn't show itemised discount either, another problem) matches what the sale rules say it ought to be.
I saved a lot of money yesterday. I didn't buy a single item. I used a simple technique called pencil and paper and wrote down the full prices. I then compared the results at checkout. Yes, even if Modular Ruins was only a 30% off item, at least a couple of others should have been 50% off. That's what the promo page said. I have no problem paying full price when I really, really want something. The purpose of a sale is to get me to buy the things I might not otherwise have wanted. But, I'm not signing into PayPal unless that bottom line is something I agree with.
I was wrong. The discount does work. It just didn't show up until after signing in to PayPal. (That was Saturday.) Anyway, now that I've gotten my feel wet, I look forward to some more Madness! :)
Edit: Just now bought some more stuff, and now I see a discount applied before signing in to PayPal. Great!
The discount should show if you go to the full page cart, but the extras won't show in the pop-up cart that goes over the store page.
