WIP: Arthurian Style Bedroom

Recently I have been going through old models and seeing if any of them can have new life with Iray. On impulse I went all the way back to one of the first models I bought here; Digital Muse's Arthurian Style Bedroom...  Purchased in 2003 and does not even appear to be sold here anymore.

Surprisingly enough, it did turn out pretty good. I made it a point to only use the props that came with the set, with one expection. I added a Flames prop to provide the interior illumination.

The first angle, showing the bed prop and the door. Not too bad. Definately workable, with the addition of some other props to fill out the scene. There is a little oddness going on with the bed's quilt, right at the corner. But more on this next.

The almost opposite angle, showing the fireplace, bed, ceiling, rug, chair and cabinets. The oddness on the bed is even more noticable now. Not sure if it is a problem with the quilt model or an intersect between the quilt and the bed. I really hate that chair though.

The last angle, this one showing the windows, table, tapestry and a better look at the cabinet.

There were a few issues with the set:
1. The props all came in centered and not in place. Not a big deal.
2. The corner seams to the walls had significant light bleed through. I had to construct cube primitives as light blockers around the corners.
3. The furniture has not aged well.
4. The furniture proportions seemed a bit off. I had to work with the scale here and there to get things to look right.

All in all, the room model itself still works, but the furniture comes off a bit primitive looking.

Not bad looking at all!  You should check out this thread, you might pick up some good tricks to try on this as well. I love re doing the older sets, with new textures etc.  Some of them just don't work but I would say a good 95% at least are more than usable.

Nice. I didn't even know about that thread. I will need to check it out later. Thanks for the tip!

Most welcome!  I'm really interested to see if you do any others or if you do some changes to this one.  It looks to be before my time (I've only been around two years in Sept) so its fun to see stuff that was available back when. I really like a lot of the older stuff.
