SOLVED - Exporting light cones from Carrara for After Effects

I made a simple animation that included spot lights with light cones turned on to create a volumetric light effect.

I want to be able to adjust those light cones independently in After Effects.

Is there a specific 'pass' I can toggle on in the multi-render pass options (when exporting as .rpf seqence) tha would just capture the lights?

(I can pretty much isoloate it with ID Matte in After Effects) - but ideally would have render separately from Carrara

Not sure. It's a volumetric lighting effect that is often best kept subtle, which still ends up being quite noticeable in the end.

I don't use Adobe, but have both Howler and HitFilm. In Howler I have varius filters for making animated lighting effects, and in HitFilm (since I still use Express - Pro comes with all of this) I bought the Atmospheric Lighting upgrade pack, which has really nice automated lighting effects that can be altered physically with masks and such.

Would 'Volume Effect' from the multipass pane in the Render Room be helpful?

  • Not sure how I missed it, but yes- that's what I was looking for.  Thanks.
