getting no response from DAZ support

I have purchased and downloaded what was supposed to be a collection of OBJ. files for Bryce 7 Pro. When I went to import the objects, all it would do is launch an installer for Bryce 6, (with a warning not to install Bryce if you already have another version of Bryce already installed).

I submitted a help request ticket last Thursday and I have received zero response. In my frustration with such sloppy support response I asked that I at least have my money back. AGAIN no response.

At this point, DAZ3D appears not interested in retaining paying customers. Very disappointed.

What did you purchase and download, provide a link please, or at least the name of the product.

It sounds to me like you are trying to install Bryce 6, nothing else installs it except the Bryce 6 installer.

I have Bryce Pro 7 installed with a ton of saved user object files and textures. I'm concerned that installing Bryce 6 on my Mac just to access these obj. files will create a conflict and put those user files in jeopardy. Plus, I see no OBJ files anywhere in the downloaded files.

OK, what you have purchased is a set which contains 4 OBP's. These are Bryce specific files. They need to be placed into your object presets folder.

What I normally do with installers like this is to make a new folder to direct the installer to, and then import the items manually into your presets in Br7

BTW there is normally no problem about having several different versions of Bryce installed. It is also not necessary to have Bryce installed on your main drive. I have all my prgram files, including various instances of Bryce, on a 2nd hard drive. WHat you need to do is amke sure each version is installed into it's own folder if you do install to an external or a 2nd Hard drive. Apparently it is also possible to install Bryce to one of those nifty little USB drives, making it totally portable.

I just don't see the OBP's. What is in the folder is a VISE icon "Four Ancient cottages Part 1 setup" that is 35mbs. Not sure what you mean about "directing the installer to a new folder" you mean inside the DAZ3D folder?

I thought you were wanting to put them into Bryce 7, not Daz Studio.

THe file you donwloaded from Daz 3D is an installer.

On your hard drive make a new folder. I have one I call "for Bryce" inside a folder that I call "unzipped files" And I direct the installer to that folder.

When you open that folder you should then see a file with an ico like the one pointed to in the 2nd image

That's right. But my Bryce folder is installed inside the DAZ folder. I will try to install 6 on backup HD. I just don't understand why 6 has to be installed. Why not just put the OBJ files in the original download so I can move it to the presets? This seems like a lot of extra work.

That seemed to work. I installed the Bryce 6 to a second HD and was able to open the OBJ files from there. Thank you very much for the help.

They are not OBJ files, they are OBP files.

And they need to be imported into your Object preset library, not using the main import into Br7 which is found on the left hand menu.

You can also drag and drop or copy and paste into your presets using windows explorer view
