Another question on the Install Manager organization . . .
Hi All,
Still trying to get a grip on the new Install Manager. (Just downloaded it yesterday.)
So, after watching the videos, I see that Install Manager needs the new "clean" folder for keeping track of your downloads and their status. So I'm leaving it where it is and will use it accordingly. And since I have a number of third party items and add-ons, I'm going to leave those in their original folder locations, and direct the Content Manager to them.
So my question is, how will DAZ Studio handle duplicates as I sort through this transition process? As in, I have Victoria 5 with a bunch of add-ons in my old location. Will 'Studio' get confused if I have duplicates in the two different locations? I obviously would like to have the Install Manager monitoring and updating my many files as they come out. So I would like to have, for example, Victoria 5 in the new Install Manager location in the 'Shared' folder (Mac). But moving several hundreds of items out of the old location and installing to the new will take a LOT of time. So it's not going to be a quick process.
So if I have Victoria 5 in the new location, will DAZ Studio see it there and then also see the extra elements in the old location and assemble renders accordingly? Or must everything from a particular render be in the same old or new location? e.g V5 in the new folder, while 'April YSH Hair' is in the old location. Trying to get answers here, before I start loading the Install Manager and possibly breaking links.
Thanks!

There's no problem having some items from a render in one content folder and other items in a different one. DS won't have a problem with having the same content in two locations, but I would find it annoying, so I'd recommend uninstalling the older versions as you go.
Thanks, Mike. That was the plan, to install, and delete as I go. With a few hundred items though, it's going take while. I was just concerned about links getting broken and screwing up my existing renders.
Thanks, again.

As long as DS knows about both content folders, all references are relative, so it knows to look in both. Make sure you keep the Data folder from the old location -- .duf scenes can recreate the Data files from the original Poser files if necessary, but .daz scenes can't.
