Evolutions Morphs Help!
Hey gang.
I recently re-installed Daz3d to clear up some hard drive space. I have several characters for an extremely important project I am working on, who had very detailed facial morphs using the Evolutions package. However, after re-installing, I get the message that none of the morphs could be found, when loading in the character, and the character's faces are basically back to generic. The thing is, all the morphs ARE still there, as the sliders are still available right where they always were.
Has anyone experienced this before, and knows of a quick way to re-link the old morphs? I'd hate to think I would have to start over from scratch re-making all these characters.
For clarification, this is what happened:
1) Installed Daz3d with Evolutions morphs package
2) Created several intricately morphed characters
3) Re-installed Daz3d and Evolutions morphs package
4) When loading the characters, a warning box says the morphs cannot be found and the character is dialed back to zero
5) All Evolutions morphs are properly installed and the sliders are otherwise located and functioning as they did before
6) Is there a way to re-link the morphs so I do not have to rebuild the characters?
Thanks for any help!
*Update*
Did a little digging and I have more information on the problem.
1) The affected figures are looking for the morphs in the folder Genesis/Base/Morphs/Daz3d/Head Morphs
2) The re-install of Evolution put all the files into the folder Genesis/Base/Morphs/Daz3d/Evolution
3) Attempting to re-install Evolution to the folder Genesis/Base/Morphs/Daz3d/Head Morphs gives the error that it must be installed in the same folder as Genesis
I guess the next question would be, is there a way to force the install into the folder the characters are looking in, or a way to redirect where the characters are looking?
*Second Update*
Because, of course, nothing leads to solutions like giving up and posting a question.
This obviously isn't the most elegant solution, but creating a new "Head Morphs" folder and duplicating the contents of the Evolution folder into it has at least restored the characters.
Still searching for a proper solution, though.
Thanks again for reading. and for your suggestions.

I can not see how you save the character.
there are many file or preset type to save.
but I understand why the problem happend.
when daz update some porduct, they sometimes change directory path or directory name.
(or vendor change directory for vendor name)
I experienced same problem about scene which I saved before.
some assets can not be loaded correctly.
,
then ,, about your case,, you understand clear which morphs you have used for your character.
if you have problem about Evolution Morphs,
editing the duf scene or character file , which you saved by text editor.
then correct only paths to the Evolution Morphs keeping the value of morphs.
You better not move actuall morph files in data directory. and should not change name of directory of products.
(as you know,, it can not work,, I think)
your way, creating “Head Morphs” folder and duplicating the morphs of the Evolution folder into it
seems not cause problem,, but as you know you need to keep same products in your data ^^;
it seems better,,, edit the duf files by text editor,, and set new path to morphs (or assets).
you can easy test it by use only one Evoltuion morph and save it as scene,(or character preset)
and open the file by text editor,,
then how they recorded the value in DSON format.
=========================================
you may need to copy the original file and save it another directory, extract by 7 zip or other archive utility,
then you can edit duf files by text editor.
you may need to serch the morph name , in "modifiers" section.
then change the "url" .
and you may need to check "region" and "groups" too.
(I do not know about the old Evolution morphs how discribe the region and groups)
Editing the DUF files for the characters makes sense. I was hoping there was an interface option for redirecting things like that (as there is with, say 3ds Max for redirecting file paths for textures, etc), but I will have to look into that tonight.
Thanks for your help.
I'm glad you found a solution. You did exactly what I would have suggested, since I have had an identical problem. Not the most convenient workaround, but it helped at least. Glad you didn't lose all of your work.
Ya,, I think what I said is not good answer,, sorry.
then if you feel difficultiy to edit the scene file,, (as for me,, I can not clear about all
properties or classes etc,, in duf file)
I recommend, just serch and find the value of morphs which you used in the duf files,
under modifier secttion,, then record the value (or simply copy and paste) to another txt file,
as you can check it easy.
then load the duf which missed the path,, ,,
I understand when you open the duf,, it turn erroer message,
and it may say "some files are not worked correctly " etc,
but leave it off,, as you said,, the figure in the scene just miss some morphs refferences,
so the effect can not work as you saved before,,
imput the value which you memorized in another text.
then save the scene again. the saved duf may record the current morphs value and correct path,
with keep other assets and properties,,
(it is so manuall way,, ^^; but it is most safety way,,I think,,)
Great suggestion. In fact, one of the possible solutions I was considering is loading the characters into the installation on my laptop (which has the old Evolution install still) and manually noting each of the morph adjustments. A little labor intensive, but probably the "best" solution aside from editing the files directly.
Thanks again, guys.
I am having basically the same problem, but I can't make it work even by creating the "Head Morphs" folder and copying the files into that. I am very frustrated. The character I want uses .dsa and .dsf files. I know it used to work. I tried looking at the files but I couldn't see anything that suggest a pathway it was looking for the files in. Any other ideas?
The .dsa files, at least, should care only that the morphs are present on the figure - there shouldn't be any reference to the location of the files. Are the morphs needed present in Genesis for you?
The morphs should be there. I have installed and re-installed them a number of times, and they show up in the data folder.
Update: I decided to recheck the character data files and somehow it had disappeared from the morph folder. After replacing that, and starting up a new Genesis figure, the head morph works! I didn't think of checking the character morphs before. Thanks.
