The first question would be: what security software are you using?
i already disabled windows defender. And I don't have any other security software on there. I should work, but it's not.
Was it the installation of DIM that failed, or opening it after installation?

When you try to install an app that didn't come through the Apple store, the OS doesn't trust it by default. Go to the Security/Privacy pane of System Preferences, and Use "Allow Apps downloaded from..." to allow specified developers. When you have tried to run the Install Manager, or Studio, you should get an option to allow it.
I am having trouble even seeing things. For example, the 2nd click required in the "getting started" toturial highlights an empty black box. Sure, when you then hover on it it displays an icon and the text "Perspective View", but is there a way to "turn on the light" in the dark-grey on darker-grey GUI ? I have already done a "factory reset" and restarted DAZ.
Do you have the controls at top-right of the viewport disappearing behind the right-hand pane groups? If so close the Sahder panes thata re docked with the Viewport and try again.
Why am I unable to install the latest update? Instal Manager says Daz is installed but I can't find it in my Applications folder. I have downloaded a .zip version but when I expand it and double click, it says can't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.
I first came to know of Daz over 15 years ago. It seemed such a cool app but I have found it a constant struggle to get myself to a level beyond newbie. I've had a stroke and a kidney transplant in the intervening years yet this program still drives me crazy! HELP!

for installing installer i disabled security options and try to install it, its seems to open fro couple of seconds but then close unexpected asking to report this to Apple.
My version is Sierra 10.12.5

To irun something prevented by gatekeeper by default, right click, select Open, this will allow you to run it. Do not set down the security settings, the right click - open is there for a reason, to manually override the default gatekeeper settings.
Okay, so research has led me to believe DAZ studio 4.10 should work on Windows XP on my laptop, I went ahead, updated the insall manager to download the content - but didn't read the instructions.
So I have the installer package and it's installed two of the four items, Now that I know why I was getting the error message for the other two (need to do it manually) I can't find them.
So where did the installer package download to? I can't find it so that I can install it manually. Or do I need to re-download the manual install packages anyway?
The install manager gives the details of the separate downloads so I'm presuming the whole thing is in a temp folder somewhere?
What "other two" and error messages.

Is it possible to get a full install of Daz and its sub programs on a drive other than the boot drive? I know I can put my content directories onto my nice big fat HDD, but I would love also install all the programs there, instead of my SSD boot drive.
Also, I am just starting out at this - Will Daz 4.10 and Hexagon 2.5 be all i need for a while? or do i worry about other programs? and if so, which ones?

I'm no artist, I was just curious about what sort of software is available for this type of art and how it works.
Daz Studio is fantastic software, I'm amazed that they give it away for free along with so much artistic content. As they state on their website, this is actually a very clever long term marketing strategy and after playing with their software I truly hope it's successful for them.
Make sure you read the license agreements for both the program and for the added content, if you haven't paid for it and you use it for commercial purposes you could find yourself in a whole new world of trouble. In simple terms, they let you download and run the software in order that you can learn how to use it before you decide to buy it. That's a very old fashioned and honourable way to do business, try before you buy. I like it.
You have to sign up as a member of their site before you can download but that's quick and painless and as yet they haven't started sending me marketing emails. When it comes to downloading and installing however things can get confusing.
You need to install a lot of extra artistic content in order to start using Daz Studio, which they also provide for free, but on their website it's not very clear about what you need and what you don't and some of those downloads are huge, a basic install to get started requires about 3.5 Gb of downloads.
Read the welcome email that they sent you when you signed up, it gives you a list of what's needed for a basic install. Also install their Install Manager program, it saves you a lot of trouble. I avoided this at first because it's a Win32 program and I'm running 64 bit Windows, that was a mistake.
I also have another consideration, my Windows has no internet access. This is deliberate, my Windows doesn't need virus protection and runs a lot faster and cleaner, I use Linux for accessing the net and downloading stuff. So once again I avoided installing the Install Manager and tried to install content manually. I'm used to doing this sort of stuff and I did follow the instructions but it didn't work, I wasted a lot of time mucking around before I decided to have a play with the install manager.
The install manager works perfectly, it would save a bit of confusion if it was incorporated into the base Daz Studio program. All I had to do was set the Download Directory in Install Manager to where I had copied all the zip files that I downloaded, it found them all and installed them all correctly, now everything works properly.
I've found Daz Studio to be very intuitive and I imagine that I could learn quite a lot just by playing with it, once I've played around with it a bit more I should be able to make more sense out of other people's tutorials. I'm no artist and have no intention of becoming one but I wish to sincerely thank the Daz Studio Team for giving me the opportunity to learn something new.

Search and download all Genesis Files I guess to be sure the program works right, I guess. Are those the basic files to install???
I've specified installation folder, but your download manager didnt ask me anything and just starts to load stuff to my C drive, I couldn't do anything, because it blocks any actions while downloading, there was not a lot of free space, so its completely filled it. just stole my important free space, Uninstalling doesnt fix anything, how can I clean this out of my PC?
How much is the DAZ program if I'd want to purchase it to make things to sell?

$0. Though bear in mind that most content requires some other application, such as a modeller or image editor, to create the raw materials.
Tubes are usually 2D images for pasting or spraying onto a cnavas in an image editor. You can certainly use DS to make those, by rendering elements against an empty background and saving as PNG or Tiff.
I seem to be having issues. I actually got the DAZ Studio 4.10 Pro "installed" but there are some things that don't look correct when I watch tutorial and compare to my screen when I do the same thing.

Do you mean that those little white boxes are showing when you expected to see the figure itself? If so, click on the display mode (that llittle symbol I've highlighted) and you will get a drop-down list - pick "texture shaded" if you want to see a realisic view of the figure.

Doesn't seem to work. Have tried a few times now over the years (on different computers) and can never get it to work. Content downloads and installs correctly but cant see the Daz 3D shortcut or find a way to launch it.
@nbg_yalta, The download manager uses the settings to determine where to store the archive files and where to install the extracted files, among other things. But if you don't change the settings, it will use the defaults, which go to your C-drive. I have an SSD on my render computer, and very little beyond the program is actually on my C-Drive. The archives are stored on my E-Drive, and my libraries are on my D-Drive.
For this setup to work, I had to go into the Preferences of Daz Studio and enter the location of my libraries. I also had to go into the settings of the DIM, (click on the little gear icon in the upper right corner,) and specify the path to my DIM downloads folder on the E-drive, (Downloads tab,) and the path to install to My DAZ 3D Library on the D-drive, (Installation tab.) There is one more steip with DIM: At the bottom of the Installation tab, there is a "Current" setting with a drop-down list of all the available installation paths. Make sure this setting has your preferred path selected. Hit Accept to save your changes and exit the DIM Settings dialog.
ETA: Before changing the "Package Archive: path, take note of the default path. You can then delete that folder and the files in it, OR move the files to the preferred location, whichever is faster and/or more convenient.
@slopsbucket, That was an interesing assessment of the software. I'm glad you like Daz Studio. You did get one thing wrong though; Daz Studio is not try before you buy. The program is free to use. Period. You can use DS for commercial purposes. You can use any of the content found in the product listings on Daz3d.com for commercial purposes. That includes products that are free.
You do need to be aware of licensing of free products found on other sites, and many of those will specify for Non-Commercial use.
The marketing model Daz3d.com uses is simple. They provide a feature-filled, professional level software to anyone with the only requirement that you create an account here. That account is used for purchasing content, (including free items,) but it also is used for creating your own galleries where you can upload your artwork, publicly or privately, and access to the forums where you can find answers to nearly any question you can come up with. And they send you email to entice you to buy the new content that is released almost every single day.
Daz3d makes their money off of the content. Content you and I would never consider buying if we didn't have the program. A program most of us would never consider buying with a price tag of $200 - $300 or more.
@manqn0_18a1b48793, You can find the path to the where the zip files are stored in the Downloads tab of the DIM Settings. Click on the little gear icon in the upper right corner of DIM.
@petergtinsley, Assuming a Windows computer, the default location for Daz Studio is C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4. If you browse to that folder, you will see a file named DAZStudio. (If you can see the extension, it will be DAZStudio.exe) Right-click on that file and a menu will popup. Select Create Shortcut. A dialog window should popup: "Windows can't create a shorcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?" Click on the Yes button.
@epeaches, Those are the free Starter Essentials that currently come with Daz Studio, for working with the Genesis line of figures. There is also a dForce Starter Essentials included, though you don't need that to work with the figures. I recommend installing all of these.
@johnsimone911, In theory, yes, Daz Studio can be installed on another drive. I haven't tried this, but I have seen comments in the forums where others have. My boot drive is SSD, and I have all my programs installed on it. I've set up my libraries and content archives on other drives. See the first part of this comment for making changes to the DIM settings, assuming you are using DIM.
I'd been using Daz Studio exclusively for years before I did more than open and close Hexagon. And I bought Hexagon! What you will probably want, and use more often than Hexagon, is a good image editor. I have Photoshop, but Gimp, (free,) should work just as well. Both have learning curves. Even if you never do post work on your images, (you should though, if only to add your signature,) there are probably going to be times when you want to modify an existing texture.
As you grow your skills, you may decide you want to add other programs to your toolkit, but it really is possible to only use Daz Studio and still make beautiful art.
I have a really simple question about installing but its a pain for me. I want to install Daz on a storage drive on my computer but have no idea where everything is suppose to go. I had it on a hard drive on a old computer so i know where folders are when i donwload content. But when i go to install on the new drive i have no folders and when i want to create them no idea how to make it match so i have an idea where things go. Should i create a folder for the installer and one for DAZ and where do i link all the installer files too? such a pain and i'm sorry if this has been talked about. If someone could reply or even just PM me that would be great.
