Hi everyone. My name is Katherine, and I'm a digital media art student, but I'm new to the 3D aspect.

    Welcome to the madhouse!

Be sure to check out the freebie forum to find links to a lot of free props. Especially the monthly freebie contest.
Don't be shy, if you have a question, post it, someone will get back to you with an answer.
But before you do, check all the old threads first, you are not the first one to ask that question.
And don't be afraid to resurrect an old thread, unlike some forums, were are not snobs.
If you want, you can even read the archive of the old forum, it's locked so you can't post to it.

Have fun! If you are not enjoying yourself, your doing it wrong!

Welcome to the exciting and rewarding world of 3D CGI!
Well, mostly it's "exciting" when your blood pressure rises from frustration and the "rewarding" part is mostly from the sense of self accomplishment you get when you overcome the initial learning curve, but overall its fun!
I mean... I'm not promising you'll have fun...
It's just more of a guess...
And mostly the fun is what you'll remember everything as, years from now when you are telling people about this at a dinner party after you have had a few drinks...
    But... yeah... its fun!
We all look forward to having another member of these forums... well, I suppose we do... quite actually, I'm just being nice and I'll probably forget what I've written here ten minutes from now... so its really hard to say "looking forward to, in regard to myself... being that I know very shortly I'll see something shiny and forget this all... sorry about that... actually since I'll be forgetting all this in a moment, I want to take this opportunity to apologize for anything stupid I may say in the near future (or distant future... in the event of a disruption in the spacetime continuum)... so anyway...
What the hell am I writing?
Well... apparently the topic title is "Hello!", so.... hi... Welcome to the exciting and rewarding world of 3D CGI!
    Oh... I wrote that already...
Well... I hope you enjoy this foray into the AMAZING world of 3D CGI... the people here at the DAZ forums are a kind and friendly lot (and very few of them are cannibals like at other forums)... We tend to be fun, helpful and springtime fresh smelling (thats a lie... I smell kind of stale at the moment)... despite our varying levels of body odor, we are all happy to help you with anything you may need... as long as its not moving heavy furniture... we have to draw the line somewhere...
Anyway, should you choose to stay after reading this (or for that matter, anything I happen to write)... on behalf of everyone here (except for that antisocial cannibal guy)...
    WELCOME!!

Geez... that was a terrible welcome.

You know what... Ignore all of that... I really shouldn't be welcoming people anywhere... well, maybe at a mental institution, but thats it...
Please stop reading this... you will have a bad impression of what the people at these forums are like... Really, nobody here is a cannibal, that problem was taken care of a long time ago and I rarely visit this part of the forums ( I think it is apparent why)...

Really... Welcome... Have a great time and enjoy.

Just tape something over the screen so you don't have to look at this anymore....

Have fun... go... this is a great hobby.. or profession... really...

    Bye.

By the way use painter's tape... it won't mess up the screen like scotch tape will... nothing personal against the scottish, it's just their tape isn't good for sticking stuff to the screen so you can ignore my posts...

    Well... good luck.

    Bye!

Hi and welcome to the forums :)
Would recommend spending several hours just reading the forums, that will get you started and the basics have been covered quite a few times in different threads. That said, don't hesitate to ask questions because sometimes the answers seem clear as mud even though we are trying to help, lol.

    Most of all, enjoy yourself!

    Cathie
