importing layers/groups into Daz Studio
Hello everyone,
Good to be back here again after a long time. I'm new to Daz Studio and I would like to use it as a rendering solution for my models. I would like to know, first off, is the rendering engine as good as Carrara's? Also, I tried importing a converted .obj file from Rhino but the groups/layers don't seem to be respected despite my export and import options (please refer to te screenshots). It's important for me to keep these groups/layers so I can assign the different materials to each component. How do i do that?
Any feedback would be great
Thanks!

The render engines are different - which of the three (Carrara, 3Delight, Iray) is better or not will ber a matter of priorities and preference.
Groups are not used by props, which a single imported OBJ is. If you imported the OBJ into the Figure Setup pane, or converted the prop to a figure, then they could be used to help with the rigging and they can be used by the Geometry Editor tool for making selections even on the prop (if you select teh Geometry Editor tool and look at the Tool Settings pane you should see a list of Face Groups and Surface Groups).
