Can anybody think of a good source for a candle flame prop? Preferably from a product that I already have? And that can take an Iray emissive shader...? (Not asking for much, am I!?)
You see, I have this set, that has a crap-load of candles in it, but none of them have a flame. And I need the flames, to explain the light coming from them....
Candle flame, there are plenty, and to make it lit, just drive the same map as is used for diffuse to emissive and then set a good power on it, like 10k Candela 10 and k in the popup below.
Or you make a flame in FilterForge if you have it (there is a nice flame filter you can edit to get it with Alpha.
Votive Candles and Stand was a freebie you might have. It has a nice flame, with many faces. Just turn the opacity off on the candle and holder and do what Totte said to make the flame surface emissive.
Not finished yet, but the main pieces are in place. I assume it's okay to post a WIP ? The OP does say that pulls and images are to be posted here.
The title's probably "Old Flame" and the caption's something along the lines of the back cover of a Mills & Boon (not that I've ever looked at the back cover of a Mills & Boon of course!)

Yeah, every time I say that..., I quickly learn otherwise!
Mm. I really should have known better than to say that out loud! The Studio is being a real pain about finding the kids 4 base figure (and it's totally not helped by the fact that I have a very awkward Windows 10 install with several duplicated directories), so I literally spent hours hunting, installing and uninstalling packages before I could finally load my little baby. I know I could have thrown her back given the circumstances, but I already knew exactly what I was going to do with her. And then somehow it insists on loading any hair that SHOULD fit her... backwards. I just learned a whole lot about manually fitting hair props to morphed figures. One of the things I'm loving is that it's pushing me to explore older content that I've never used. I didn't really get started with Daz Studio until Genesis 3 was pretty well-established, so V4, M4, and older are pretty much completely new to me, and I'm kinda falling in love with them.
