Ah,  come on now,   that wasn't just Carrara,   that was across the board.   And they did keep the Archive forums going for some time,  to allow people to dowload stuff they considered essential.  or copy and paste it into the new forums. They did also warn that they couldn't keep the archived foum going for ever.   The old software was a homegrown mess of duct tape, spaghetti, chewing gum, rubberbands and string by the time it was replaced, and falling apart rapidly.

Inagoni didn't make the list as well.

If anyone knows how to track down Dart please let me know either here or by PM...  I'd replied to his PM earlier in September 2017 but have not heard from him yet... a week later, Sept. 12th, was his last post.

I'm hoping that Dart will drop by when his real life work slows down this winter.  I suspect that many are like myself and have always considered him not only the top cheerleader for Carrara as well as many DAZ products.

Yeah... again, I'm sorry for being so absent from the forum, as well as producing new content.

Learning new skills toward my end goal has been a priority for the tidbits of spare time I've been finding here and there, but there hasn't been much.

Finding out that I've been culled was quite a surprise to me - as for how suddenly it happens without any notice from the office, but since I haven't produced new content in quite some time, it wasn't entirely unexpected.

I still love Daz3d, as always.

Rosie and I have started putting in place a plan to try and get me back into Daz3d, but as it might be difficult to get my previous items back into a new store here, the current plan is to upgrade them to how I now like to use them myself, after learning more and more over the past years, and try and find them a new home so that the Carrara community can still get their hands on them.

As usual, I don't have any time right now... but I'll be back  - which is also part of the plan Rosie and I have in place. Oh... and I'm also going to be cranking my cpu coes wide open with new animations toward my main project (movie), so I'm glad to announce that that whole thing is starting to get back underway.

See you all soon, and thanks for the love!

    Hey Dart,

Thanks for checking in and explaining.  Daz has made a choice, and now you have a whole new set of options.

Whatever way you go, I'm excited for your future, as you are way too talented to stay out of sight for long.yes

Man, I am so so glad I already had all of the Dart products, they are great products and it seems like such a weird decision from DAZ.  I feel bad though for newer Carrara users who didn't get the chance and I hope they get put up on Rendo or somewhere else so others will have the chance to use them too.

This sudden culling has me paranoid and scrambling to get the few products from other Cararra PA's I don't already have.  I've decided I'd better pull the trigger on getting Fenric's MDD plugin, solely for possible future use in getting fluid sims from Blender into Cararra, and going to grab Ringo's shaders and 3d paint brushes as well as Mat Creator's 3d paint brushes too (I never understood how useful they could be til I saw a recent modeling video on youtube where a guy models and paints a cave from a simple vertex cube, and suddenly it clicked.  Especially as I've lately been on an Architools kick and making houses, 3d paint seems like it could be absolutely great for, for example, painting cobblestones onto certain parts of buildings and things like that).  I'm also going to have to pick up some more of Holyforest's shaders, in many ways the most realistic shaders I've seen for Carrara, but the downside is they are so complex they always slow the rendering of my scenes :)  But sometimes you just need to use the best.

I also picked up PhilW's animation course (and have so far watched the first 3rd of it) great stuff.  But I don't think his store is in any danger, or TangoAlpha's store either, as they both do a lot of regular new releases (and maybe even more crucially, do products that support Daz's horrible muggle favorite child Studio that gets all the attention while the much more capable Carrara remains locked in a closet under the stairs...)

Inagoni would be a much bigger blow except that fortunately all their plugins can be purchased on the Inagoni site, for less money, and with newer released versions, but it's still striking to see such incredibly important and useful Carrara plugins suddenly vanish from the Daz store.

Wishing you the very best in all your endeavors, Dart.  Looking forward to seeing you and Rosie swashbuckling through the galaxy.  When you make your decisions regarding 3D content, make sure you let us all know where it is avalable. You always offer very high quality products.

Great!...  Glad to here it... as you know my latest on Scene Lighting and Atmosphere was inspired by a few of your recent posts which I've linked to... something I did not mention is that I sorta dedicated it to you since I'd not planned on starting it so soon after my Animation thread.

Imagine my surprise to here all the sad news about your store after breaking hip on Sept 6 and being in rehab center for weeks after that... to say the least I was not cheered up hearing the news.

Looking forward to seeing your animation and anything else you come up with... but of course I know how busy you are with everything.

    Rock On!

I think it's shocking business practice not to inform content develeopers that their store is "about to be removed".

give a months written notice,. or contact them,.  not simply expect them to be a workhorse for your web store.

many people do other things,. and that is their main concern,.

While i'm sure some developers make some money from this ,.  if you look at the time spent developing a "product",. and calculate minimum wage per hour,. then deduct 50 percent.

and reduce the price for a "sale" on launch,. ...

who earns a living from that,. the developer working for weeks,. or the seller with a web store ?

    yada yada yada,.
