cancel hair sim

I cannot cancel a hair sim.
PoserPro 2012 stops responding, goes white then continues on calculating.
I can cancel cloth sims easily enough.
and could hair too in P7
Windows asks if I want to close the program or wait for it to respond.it does after a while, and goes on calculating
I have to chose between losing my work and closing or waiting too long for a sim gone wrong I wish to redo.
the latter is too impractical so closing and starting over my only choice.
this is the 64bit, unsure 32bit different as not tried it.
