Question about Gen 8 F

When I was downloading some purchases in DIM, a Gen 8M Starter Essential( i think that's what it was called) was available so I downloaded it. I know in previous generations, Daz will give you a Gen"..." starter set for the characters. Did one come out for the Gen8F? Or is it not needed for some reason?

Do you see a Genesis 8 starter essentials?  I am looking at the product library on the website and found it.  Not at computer right now to check Dim.

I see Starter Bundles for various characters but what I meant was the Base Figure. Like there is a Gen 3 Female base character, it's not V7, it's just the base. And there is a base for Gen 8 M.

How were you downloading? In DIM there are, I think, separate male and female packages but in Connect there's just one that has both figures and their add-ons.

I use DIM primarily and that's where I saw the G8M one

Yes there are two separate packages in DIM, one for the males and one for the females.  Might only be one for Smart Content but I don't use it so I can't say. Edited to add that the base character are included in the Starter Essentials download.  You can also check and see if you have them loaded by going into Daz Studio and going to Content Library/ Daz Studio Formats/ people/ genesis 8

Then you should have two packages, I think - one male, one female.

Installing the two starter essentials using DIM causes an issue with the Smart Content tab. The first one you install will get removed and you'll only have one base figure visible there (either male or female, whichever was installed last). You'll need to access the other "missing" figure at the Content Library tab.

  • @ddCreate it looks like y3kman has the answer for you, when Dim installs it messes up the smart content somehow for this. I don't use Smart Content, I load everything with DIM or manually then toss them all into custom categories so I did not know it did this.  Very strange, but she should be in your content directory section instead of Smart Content.  Or, you could uninstall and then install via smart content, then both would show up there.

I looked in My Content (first picture in previous post) and it's not there. I would try the un-install/re-install idea but I have to have something to un-install first. And she is not there to un-install. So I'm still looking for a way to do the intial install. Or am I not understanding what you're saying?

Have you checked the DIM if it lists the Genesis 8 Female Starter Essential package ready to download?

If it's not listed, do a manual install. https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files#prod_42071
