Transfering to a new computer

Hi I'm fairly new to Daz. Anyhow, I have purchased a couple models and the files are a direct install. By that, I mean, the user doesn't have a Troll.exe for safe keeping on their desktop. If I'm wrong, please correct me. With that said, I plan to purchase a new computer in a few months, so how would I transfer all the models from one machine to the new one? Your expertise is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I plan to build a new system within the next few weeks. Very good question actually. I was planning to transfer everything to external drive, hope that works :)

My Dell computer was old and going ka-put, and I bought a Samsung and had to transfer the files over- but I just did the products though, as I had already installed the 4.5 on the Samsung. The external hard drive worked nicely.

So, I guess, if you install Daz on a new computer and then copy the "My Library" from Users > My Documents over from the old drive to the new one, everything should be fine? Or will that royally screw up the program? Any thoughts is appreciated. Thanks.

Copy & paste? And then correct inside of DAZ Studio on your new PC the path to your MyLibrary folder (which would be probably a bit different, since your PC might have a different name, which is part of that path).

Anyway, if you bought the items in DAZ store, then you surely must have available all files necessary for a reinstall. If you bought them elsewhere, I wonder which site it could be that does not allow you to keep the installer.

Ok, I see. I typically just do a run install. However, after reading your statement, I went into my downloads folder and saw the exe file. I will keep that file in a separate folder along with any additional models I buy from DAZ. Thanks for the info :)
