in New Users

can anyone out there tell me why all the categories that used to be directly above the viewport have disappeared and how i can get them back?  thanks in advance

    If you right-click with your mouse in the dark area above the viewport, that should give you options for displaying in that area. Check the ones you want to show.

    Why did they disappear? Your guess is better than anyone elses.

    What do you mean by categories? The toolbars, with buttons for commands? You can, as SixDs says, reshow them by right-click if you closed them in the current session but - unless this has changed - not if DS has closed since the toolbars were closed. Other options are Window>Workspace>Select Layout (to reload your layout entirely) or Window>Workspace>Customise and in the Activities tab on the right right-click on a toolbar in the activity tab you are using to enable it.
