P-51B/C in 3DS (fantastic model!)

Unfortunately for me, I can't seem to get the textures to apply properly in Hex... and it comes into Blender all... it doesn't like Blender... hmmm...
It's in 3DS format, two meshes, one flying one on the ground. The modelling is fantastic... the UVS are the problem...

You should try PoseRay to convert from 3DS. It should do a good job of keeping the UVs intact. The only issue I (personally) have with PoseRray is that it changes the mesh to triangles when converting to OBJ format.
That worked!!! Thank's for that tip! 3DS is usually triangles anyway.
PoseRay makes everything into triangles, unfortunately. Anthony Appleyard's Detriang usually does a reasonable job of converting back to quads, although the resulting topology might not be very elegant... ;)
You can find it in Renderosity Freestuff
Why waste your time if you can just go here - http://www.colacola.se/map_1.htm - and get already Poserized WWII planes
Because that's a P-51B :)
And while it's great stuff it is also non-commercial, which may make them a no starter depending on intended use. I notice he put up a new model and a nice about page. I didn't realize he was lead artist on 2 large commercial projects, or that he'd been published that much. :)
So? This is a .3ds. It already IS all triangles.
I could be wrong but I gathered he meant that as an aside for anyone converting meshes that might not be triangles already...

Packed and ready for poser, works in DS too.
Many more airplane models available from this modeller.
;-)
Two thumbs up on Neil's airplane models. They are made for Poser and sometimes take a tweak or two in DS, but they are great models.
The TurboSquid model linked to on the first post is now in Carrara format...
Hey Dan, long time no see. :)
I have to agree, Neil makes very good models and they are more accurate then many paid models I have seen in stores.
