Why is the Toon Boy Sam / product Documentation Site not posted or I'll get a 404 error

And what Avi Codec do you guys use to render the avi files with daz - Is their a standard. I can't render a movie because of my avi codec I guess -

In my humble opinion you shouldn't really render avi files straight from Daz. It's a lot harder to get decent results and you're stuck waiting for the entire animation to complete rendering. Worse, if you spot a mistake, you'll have to redo everything from scratch. Better in my opinion to render to an image sequence and then use another application to splice them all together.

As for codec, it really depends on what sort of quality you want and whether you're trying to reduce the file size or not. I'd suggest doing a little research into different codecs to find out which one works best for your work.

Regarding Toon Boy Sam, he's been around for quite some time so it's possible that they simply haven't migrated all of the old information over. I own him though, so if you have any specific product queries I'm more than happy to answer them for you.

    - I didn't know if their where standard morph and veseme settings or not and if so where these settings might be - I can always guess though -

I'm scooting around the program much better though -

What's the deal with the eye tool - never seen one before - I probably need to use it to set my eye direction and save it for my eyes in exchange. Not sure if I need to import it though -

I think in most 3d movies the boy characters are always the funniest - I bought him for all his different morphs -

I should of bought this new pack from IClone but I've been to cheap so far - lol

I'm sure when I get some free time it won't take long to convert him - I hope - lol

The eye tool is unique to 3D Universe characters, Sadie and Sam both use this. The idea is that they're linked to the eyes, so you can simply place the target at a point you want them to look at and the eyes will follow accordingly. It's easier than having to select individual eyes to ensure they're looking it the right direction. It shouldn't show up in render, so it's rarely a concern, but if you export the figure to external renderers like Luxrender, you'll want to hide it or reduce the opacity for the eye target to zero.

Morphs wise, he has the usual visime set along with a large number of expression morphs. However, by default he has no shaping morphs. There is an additional morphs package out there which can address that though, allowing him to become a wider ranger of characters. I don't have that particular set as I don't use him as often as I do Sadie, but I do own the Sadie morphs. I can assure you they're quite extensive and well worth a look, so the Sam versions are likely just as useful.

There are Genesis versions of both Sadie and Sam available, but bear in mind that they're very different to their original counterparts. Hands and feet are more naturally scaled for Genesis and the originals are considerably shorter than their successors. Nothing that scaling can't remedy if you plan to combine the two though. However, they do use very different textures, which gives them a uniquely fresh appearance. I'm a huge fan of both incarnations, so I still find uses for both versions, bur it's worth considering if you're looking to upgrade.

I've been doing some animation with Sam and characters like him is why I bought a 3d software in the first place. I love being able to use the viseme to create facial morphs during the animation process with daz although . It's much easier in IClone to create facial expressions but still the same , it's a lot of fun with daz. - I guess the morphs have been what has made DAZ better in this area. Anyway - these characters can almost make anybody look like they know what their doing. lol - ^ 5

I still pretty well suck at it but this is my first year into 3D and this is some of the stuff I've been doing with IClone. You should download it sometime and give it a Go !

I had other AVI Codecs in a drop down list. I've got about 5 or more - lol - So it works just fine.

Thanks for all the great information.

I finally posted a short test post of Sam on You Tube -
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3rhCDevTbY

Looks like he'll work just fine - I appreciate all your help - I still have to find a tutorial on bringing over all the blinks and muscle, custom and viseme expressions. I wished it wasn't all this work - lol - I've tried talking 3D Universe into setting these characters up for IClone. and selling them already set up. No luck though - Seems like they could get a little extra on each avatar that way. Guess I'm just lazy and of course dumb comes into play - lol

    Any hoot

    Thanks Again !
