Historical background of anumation plugins
I am trying to get to terms with the development of animation in Daz Studio just for the understanding of the various tutorials floating around the net. So far I have identified following plug ins,
aniMate lite
aniMate
aniMate+
aniMate2 (with KeyMate and GraphMate)
And the there are Animator and Geppetto! Which was free and which was commercial? Are some of the old still available and/or useful? Is there more?
A short historical background would be excellent! Thank you in advance.

DS4.5 comes with AniMate2 installed that is FULL Function for the first 30 days. It then times out and Becomes AniMate Lite a limited version. AniMate 2 is the newest and most improved version of AniMate.
I personally use AniMate2 with the KeyMate and GraphMate add on's in my work flow. (nothing I'll show yet as it's a long project)
I had AniMate + before Version 2 came out but find that V2 is better in many areas.
I have never used the others you mentioned. I'm not even sure if they have a DS4.5 version. If they have not been updated to DS4.5 they will not work with it. Check the Info and compatibility lists before you buy any plugins. If DS4 or above is not listed they More than likely will not work with it.
Thank you! I have one more question as you seem animator knowledgeable,
When you "Create aniblock From Studio Keyframes" you have a choice,
"Direct Copy. Example, BVH import" OR,
"Transform to Objects POV. Example, Bake/Create"
Do you know the difference between the two?
I can´t find the explanation anywhere.
The option one, BVH is a direct copy of a Boned item. A Figure. Use for all Figures.
The other is if you have animated an object like a camera or prop.
Ok! I guess that I find out more in detail as soon as I start to use it then. "Transform to Objects POV", hmm.
BVH is for Rigged or Boned Figures like Genesis and V4. It records all the movements of the bones so your AniBlock can be used on any other figure with those bones. Like a walk or picking up a object.
The POV is for ITEMS that move or an effect, You can record a camera movement for use again. A Light effect like getting Bright and Dim. A ball rolling or anything along those lines.
I hope this clears things up some.
Thanks to you, I am beginning to see the light. Mind you, not the beginning of the end but the beginning of the beginning.
Motionbuilder was childs play compared to Daz with its double timelines and umpteen plugins.
