Is Griffin Wings THE wing staple? Or should i get something else?

I would like to venture into fantasy creatures, such as, say Winged Cats. It seems like everywhere I look, the products are based off of Griffin Wings (i.e. Griffin wings for Daz Big Cats 2, Griffin wings for Daz Horse 2 etc). More wings exist for humans (upright) but nothing that seems to convert them to horizontal rib cages.  But... Griffin Wings looks like a really old product from Genesis time.  Is there some updated version?  Or is everyone still using that one?  Or are the new wing products so much more versatile that there are no separate poses for them for animals becuase nothing separate is needed?  In short... where should i start shopping? ideas?

  • Use a newer wing set of you like the look. You can just rotate them and space them to fit your animal, then parent to the chest or wherever you are attaching them. I just used these to make a winged lion, they're great. https://www.daz3d.com/feathered-wings-for-all
  • Thank you Agent Unawares!! those wings you linked to are awesome.  Could you share the winged lion render to show you you made it work? :)

do realise that griffin wings for the big cat also requires the griffin wings itself (so that's 2 products)

doesn't hurt to look around... maybe there are freebie wings that you may like. as said above, it's usually possible to adapt wings to other figures then their 'intended' ones....

a starting place to look for freebies might be this:

smiley posting at almost the same time; here an example of something I did ages ago....  dog with an owl inside cheeky. The owl is set to be invisible, except for the wings; the ghostly part shows you the owl set to visible again (and dog to be semi-transparant)....

Note that the majority of wing sets aren't designed to "fit-to" one particular figure, they work by being parented to the figure's chest. Any figure; human, animal or fantasy critter, they'll follow the figure's movements and posing.

There is a set of wings over on Hivewire for the Hivewire Horse.  I haven't purchased them so I don't know if they work with other animal figures.

The Feathered Wings For All linked above has a generic set of wings included that is meant for everything not human - so this set would be the most versatile for you.  It has wings that fit all the human generations and a generic set for animals, or whatever, that isn't human.

A really good wings freebie is "Angel Wings" They worked fine for me in earlier versions of DS, but lately I've been unable to load them properly. Maybe you'll have better luck.
