Extra Bones in Genesis 8 Female
Hi,
I'm a little new to Genesis 8 and I've only just noticed that there are extra bones for limbs like the shoulder, forearm, and thighs. For example, I can see for the left shoulder that it has "Left Shoulder Bend" (which automatically gets selected when I click on it in the 3D View), and "Left Shoulder Twist" which I find a little puzzling. There are 3 rotation dials for each bone, so what's the purpose of the "Twist" bone? How, for example, are the Bend dials different with each bone? If I want to bend the forearm, which Bend dial should I use?

Genesis 3 and 8 have switched to using general weight-mapping, which uses a single map for each joint, instead of the older Genesis 1/2 system with a weight map for each axis (and for scale too). bends are geenrally at the joint while twists need to be distributed along the joint, so one map won't cover both; the solution is to have a bone for bending and a bone for twisting. To make the figure usable the parameters are cross-linkd so that using twist on the bend bone is actually driving the twist on the twist bone.
